THE UNOFFICIAL DRESS CODE FOR BRUNCH WITH HIS PARENTS
Before you head on to the brunch or just afternoon tea with his parents, you must see and read about the unofficial dress code for brunch with his parents. Yes, there’s actually an unofficial dress code for a sweet date with his parents. Well, you know what I mean with sweet. The only sweet thing is the cake.
Wait, no, there’s another sweet thing. But more about this later. First, comes the Sunday brunch staple. The one thing you should actually always wear for a date with his parents. Either a Sunday brunch, family lunch or afternoon tea. You probably already know what I have I mind, as you have seen me wearing in almost all of my Sunday outfit posts. Yes, the tweed.
WHO DOESN’T LIKE TWEED?
The most sophisticated material everyone loves. I guess thanks to Chanel. Otherwise, I could write, “only the grandmas love”. But the truth is, you can find this fashionable material, in every fashionista’s closet right now. Yes, tweed is in fashion this season. Ps. Check once you finish reading this post. Don’t worry the fashion trend report will open in a new tab.
Nevertheless, in fashion or not, tweed is the one thing you should always wear to brunch with his parents. Or Sunday’s afternoon tea with his parents. I don’t even need to write your mother in law will be impressed, do I? Yet, this is not the only part of this unofficial dress code I keep bringing up. There’s another thing that matters too.
COLOURS AND PRINTS SWEET AS A CAKE YOU HAVE WITH THE AFTERNOON TEA
Believe it or not, but that unofficial dress code for a brunch with his parents says you should wear the sweet colors and floral print. I know you saw that coming. I mean mothers-in-law love wallpaper floral print, don’t they?
I probably don’t need to remind you how calming wallpaper floral print is. And that is just what you need to put on for a brunch with his parents or just afternoon tea. No matter how annoying an irritating your mother in law is, seeing you in some florals will definitely calm her down.
But wait, before you put on the first blouse in floral print you have in your closet, and grab a tweed jacket on your way out, a little tip about what floral print is in fashion right now. You do want to look fashionable, don’t you?
SUNDAY BRUNCH OUTFITS AND FLORAL PRINT
While the floral print is almost always in fashion, not any floral print is really fashionable. Luckily the floral print that is in for this season is just the one, you need to balance it for a brunch with his parents. Read more about this season’s floral print in the .
Whatsoever, before I let you browse and shop my upgraded , a quick look at what I’m wearing this time. Oh, and for the record, I eat that cake and it was surprisingly delicious. The photos were taken at Slovenian National Gallery in Ljubljana. By the way, this is a perfect place for an afternoon tea with your in-laws.

Oh and don’t forget to share it with your girlfriends. Especially with that friend who keeps complaining about her mother in law.
TWEED JACKET – THE PERFECT JACKET TO WEAR FOR AN AFTERNOON TEA WITH YOUR MOTHER IN LAW
Staring with the tweed jacket, of course. A black tweed jacket is undoubtedly a jacket every 20 something girl should have in her closet. And you know what? You actually don’t need to spend your entire paycheck just for a tweed jacket. Well, you can. Especially if you wanted the same jacket as I’m wearing here. Although truth to be told, I have no idea where could you get one at this time. I bought this one season ago, and all identical jackets are sold out already.
But there is really no need to spend your entire paycheck on a tweed jacket. As you can get a tweed jacket for as little as $112. (Ps. This is little for a jacket you will be wearing for years!) Surely not made of wool, like mine, but good enough to fool your mother in law. Yes, tweed is one and only material that can deceive anyone. At least in my experience. Or I just have really good luck and always get quality tweed pieces.
What so ever, you can get a black tweed jacket on a budget here. Or luxury wool tweed black jacket here. Or any tweed jacket from the price range in between in the widget below. You know, just click on the tweed jacket you like.
Ps. Tweed jacket is not your only option. You can go for a tweed skirt instead. Or for a tweed suit. Check the gallery below to see more.
SILK FLORAL BLOUSE – SO SILK AS THE CREAM ON THE CAKE
Another very important thing I actually already briefly mentioned before when I was writing about the unofficial dress code for a brunch or afternoon tea with his parents, is silk floral blouse. Tweed and silk all in one outfit? Plus floral print? This is Mother in law approved! Believe me, wearing this duo, will bring you some extra points. Especially if you wear a silky floral blouse with a Victorian collar. Ps. I wrote about this blouse in the .
In fact, a silk floral blouse is essential for every fashion girl right now. And no, not only for his mother’s sake but for fashion’s too. I know it’s not on my . But hey, I already have one. Also, the millennials favourite brand, yes, Gucci, says you should have one. And your mother in law would definitely approve of this floral silk bow blouse here.
If you are not into the floral print, you wear a pastel silk bow blouse instead. Like this one here. Or a turtleneck sweater. But never anything oversized.
Well, maybe not the best. We all know what his parents think about you wearing a mini skirt. But hey, it’s a tweedy mini skirt. And wearing it like this, with a matching blazer will change their mind once and for all. Besides you can . Yes even to work.
My mini plaid black and white tweed skirt comes from Storets. In case you missed, I also wore this skirt over here.
OMG YOUR MOTHER IN LAW WILL SPILL HER TEA WHEN SHE SEES YOUR SHOES
Finally, the shoes. You know what? You can wear any shoes. Let your mother in law roll with your eyes if she must. Only mind the place you are brunching in. I’m wearing my new Gianvito Rossi. Plexi pumps (shop here). Yes, I finally got them. I decided to buy these in blush first, but I’m thinking of getting them in all of the shades.

Either a brunch with his parents at the local posh brunch spot or an afternoon tea at his parents’ house, this is all you need to know to follow that unofficial dress code for a Sunday date with his parents.
Oh, and do sit like a lady. I didn’t all the time because I wanted to show my long legs. Well, at least I like to think I have long legs.
