Walking in Stripes

Striped pants are indeed one of those pants you simply need to have in your closet whether they are in fashion or not. Yes, striped trousers are one of those clothes that keep coming back in style. But even if they weren’t fashionable ever again, everyone chic would still love them. They are just so cool.

It has been a while since I got my first pair of striped pants and I can tell, these Michael Kors high-waist wide-leg trousers with stripes are all. They truly elongate my legs while there is always something about these high waisted wide-leg striped pants that makes them somehow fashionable even when stripes are out of style, or everyone wears straight-leg pants again.

If nothing else, there is a high waist that is hardly ever out of style. And stripes? Well, who could get bored of thin lines that elongate the silhouette?

THE POWER OF STRIPED PANTS

To be honest, striped pants are tricky to wear. And not because they don’t go well with anything. Because they do. The thing is that many women don’t feel comfortable wearing them.

And all despite the fact, that straight striped trousers elongate our legs and make us look taller instantly. The power of stripes can be just too powerful at first.

Yes, you will catch the looks on the streets, but hey, don’t you want to take the space the minute you step in?

GETTING USED TO STRIPED TROUSERS

Surely, wide-leg trousers with stripes are one of those clothes you need to learn how to wear to feel confident wearing them. My advice: go stripe by stripe and wear your striped pants as I do this time.

As you can see, I styled my striped trousers with clothes and accessories that match together so well, you can barely spot the stripes at a first look. All you can see, well at least I hope so, are my long legs.

How I pulled this off? By going dark and matching my blue and white wide-leg trousers with a long dark satin looking trench coat. This way, I made the dark stripes blend with shimmer and furthermore elongate my silhouette.

Another thing that is quite important if you want to look as tall as a model when wearing striped pants is to get pants with a high waist and wear them with high heels and slightly longer trench coat. And yes, you can get platform pumps this season. Since platforms are back in style.

STRIPED PANTS

I’m wearing blue and white striped wide-leg trousers from Michael Michael Kors (you saw me wearing these pants also here and here).

Michael Kors has had the best striped pants more than four seasons in a row now. Even though my striped pants are already sold out, you can get stunning Michael Kors striped trousers from MK latest collection over here.

Not to forget to mention. If you are not buying the striped pants, I found for you and going to your own stripe quest, at least note this. When you are buying your first striped trousers mind the colour, width and the gap between the stripes.

To make sure your wide-leg striped trousers genuinely make you look taller, get pants with stripes standing quite close to each other and with different widths. As you can see, the pants I’m wearing and the stripe trousers in the collage have two different sections of stripes.

Also, pick trousers with very thin stripes, if you are still adapting to this fashion trend, and combine your pants with some other fashion trend to make your outfit more stylish and fashionable.

WHITE SILK SHIRT

You can’t see it in the collage, but I matched my wide-leg striped trousers with a white silk shirt. Mine comes from Sandro, and you can shop similar Sandro silk white shirt here.

LONG BLUE TRENCH COAT

To elongate my silhouette even more and to slightly blend the stripes I put on this long thin blue trench coat. As you can see it has this satin shine that makes it very easy to style. In short, this blue trench coat goes perfectly with everything.

Get this stunning satin blue trench coat that will undoubtedly be your favourite overcoat from March to November from morning till, well the next morning since you can wear it for the night out too, over here.

If you are shopping on a budget then better check this blue trench coat over here. It will do the trick too. However, a trench coat is something worthy of investment.

PLATFORM PUMPS, BLACK BAG, OVERSIZED SUNGLASSES AND GLOVES

I finished my look with a small black bag, oversized purple turtle shell sunglasses (shop similar here) and high heels. Yes, platform pumps are a must if you are not tall. Besides platforms are back in style. Shop the brown platform pumps as seen in the collage here. They are from Nine West and very cheap.

Or get this pair of black platform pumps from Michael Kors. Mine are from Michael Kors too. Ps. After years of walking in these pumps, they are not comfortable anymore.

Not sure if this happens to all Michael Kors pumps or just mine, but after walking miles in these shoes, I don’t feel good wearing them anymore. However, you need to know I was wearing these brown pumps on repeat for years. Surprisingly they still look the same as the day I bought them. If only the comfort were the same.

Sure, if you only wear heels once and then and looking for platform heels just to wear with your new striped pants or merely for few seasons, then get these Michael Kors pumps. You will love them until you don’t love them anymore, for sure.

Lastly, the blue gloves that match the trench coat. These blue leather gloves are from Forzieri (shop here).

SAME STRIPED PANTS NOT SAME OUTFITS

There are many other sprite pants outfits on Brunette from Wall Street since I like to wear these striped pants for any occasion. Even for the office (see here). Or for a casual day with a bomber jacket (see here). Ps. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and LIKETOKNOW.it too to see how I wear striped trousers with this season’s it sweater.
