DOES WIDE-LEG PANTS MAKE YOU LOOK WIDER OR TALLER?
Truth to be told, only a few months ago I would never put on the wide-leg trousers. Hence skinny jeans or straight tight pants were my staples, and I was sure wide-leg pants make you look chubby and small.
However, after the striped pants came in style, and I, a fashion-forward fashionista, bought these striped wide-leg trousers, I realised I was all wrong about wide-leg pants.
I realised I actually look way much taller in my striped wide-leg pants than in the skinny jeans. And therefore went on a real wide-leg pants quest.
However, after trying several different wide-leg pants in a row, I realised wide-leg pants are not like that mushroom Alice bit in that made her tall.
No. Unfortunately, not every wide-leg trousers will do magic and make you look taller.
It turns out that you must follow a few tips and styling tricks to make sure you look taller in palazzo pants. Here is how to wear wide-leg trousers right.
HOW TO LOOK TALLER IN THE WIDE-LEG PANTS
Again, don’t expect to grow taller the minute you put on your wide-leg pants. As always, there is a hack. You know what I mean. If you style your wide-leg trousers in a wrong way, not taking advantage of that whisper-light fabric your wide-leg trousers are made of, the wide-leg pants will do nothing but widen your silhouette. And make you look smaller.
Don’t worry, I know just what to do, to make sure this doesn’t happen and you look taller instead.

#5 TIPS TO LOOK TALLER IN WIDE-LEG PANTS
#1 GO FOR SOFT-LIGHT FABRICS
Make sure your wide-leg trousers are made of soft and most of all light fabric. Look for pants made of silk. Real or fake, as long as it doesn’t make any sounds when you walk and gently falls down your silhouette.
#2 PINCHED HIGH IN THE WAIST
Never ever get wide-leg trousers with the low waist. Sure, the 90s are in fashion now. But hey, you want to appear taller, right? So look for high-waisted trousers then.
#3 FALL FOR THE PATTERN
Not any kind of the pattern, though. What you need are the vertical lines. Admittedly, the vertical stripes are not the only option. Dark florals are a good option, too. However, mind the position of the flowers.
#4 DOUBLE PINCHED OR DOUBLE FLOATS
There are only two kinds of tops that will help you look tall in your wide-leg pants. Either the short ones that finish high in the waist, just above the wide-leg trousers or the ones that fall down your legs and float together with the trousers as you walk.
#5 PLATFORMS
I won’t say the only shoes you should be wearing with your wide-leg pants are heels. But they really are. In short, the higher, the better. Although, always better safe than sorry. You know what I mean. Walking in wide-leg trousers can be quite challenging, not to say dangerous. And when adding the heels … you know for yourself.
Sounds too difficult? Don’t worry, here is a fashion cheat sheet that shows you exactly how to follow all these tips. Plus look fabulous in your new striped wide-leg pants.

As said, the best way to look taller in your wide-leg pants is to style them with heels, and a long or very short top. I decided to style my striped Michael Kors wide-leg pants (shop here) with a short bomber jacket from Juicy Couture (shop similar Juicy Couture bomber jacket here) this time.
Unlike once before, remember here, when I styled them with the dark blue trench coat with a ruffled trimming at the bottom, I decided to go for a pinched silhouette this time. I wanted to make my long legs really to pop. Besides the bomber jacket is just perfect for Friday afternoon in the city, don’t you think?
As it goes to the shoes, I’m wearing Michael Kors suede platform pumps. However, I find these Charlotte Olympia platform pumps (buy here) a better match for this chic, casual spring outfit.
