The long thin trench coat, or to put it differently, a trench robe, is one of the fashion trends you might not spot on the street straight away. Even though it has been here for quite some time now. Well unless you are in Paris or another fashionable city. Surely you will see fashionistas dressed in silk robes or at least in a longer version of a thin trench coat on the streets there. Because this fashion trend is hot. And promising. Especially when we add ruffles to it. Or even better, a hood.

LONG THIN COAT

It’s thin, and it flutters in the air as we walk. It gives as this feminine lightness. Like we were floating in the air. Moreover, it makes us look like the goddess, so elegant and gracious. No matter what we wear it with. Either a silk robe or a long trench coat, they both make the same impression.

Although, a short note when it comes to the long trench coat. First, get yourself a single breasted coat, or wear your double breasted trench unbuttoned as I do. Believe me, this is the only way your long trench coat will flatter you regardless your body type. You do want your long coat to make you look tall, right?

Anyway, the second thing you should remember is the material. While the emphasis is on the thin, you should be sure your long trench coat is made of Acetate and Polyamide. I know, synthetic materials sound hideous. Still, I can’t say for sure that a long trench coat made of cotton would make the same divine effect. Honestly, I need to try this style to be certain. Anyway, you can always wear a silk robe.

THE ROBE

Yes, a silk robe is a nice alternative to a long thin trench coat. As a matter of fact, a long thin trench coat is an alternative to the robe, as a robe should always come first this season. Especially, a silk robe. Well, a velvet robe, too. On a very cold day, of course.

IS IT TRENCH ROBE OR PYJAMAS’ ROBE WE TALK ABOUT?

Actually both. Even though we swapped striped pyjamas shirts for ruffled striped shirts, pyjamas trend still rules the streets. Anyway, I know you are wondering what’s the difference between the trench robe and the pyjamas’ robe. Obviously, we are not talking about the pyjamas’ robe you can buy at the lingerie store. It’s as soft and comfortable, but much glamorous. You know what I mean.

Back to the main difference. The difference is in the material.

HOW LONG IS LONG

There is only one answer when it comes to the length of your thin long coat/robe. The longer, the better. However, I decided to get adopted to this trend step by step. You know, it takes some time to learn how to wear this fashion trend confidently. I certainly don’t want to look like a girl who walks around wrapped in the sheet she took from her bed in the morning.

MY OUTFIT

As said, I went for a slightly shorter version of the long coat. Anyway, the way to wear this coat is the same to the very long coat or robe.

I wanted to show the lightness of this thin, not so long, trench coat. So I decided to make this contrast of the light and heavy materials even stronger this time. To do so, I’m wearing my thin white trench coat with a suede skirt and almost matching suede over the knee boots. And a silk shirt under the trench coat. I finished my look with the small black bag and matching leather gloves. See, I used my style equation again. Check here, to see what I’m talking about.
Also, see how I wore this trench robe here and here.
