You know that careless feeling and the joy you feel when you put on the mini chic, flirty skirt, swap your pumps for sneakers and wander around the romantic streets of Paris? No? Don’t worry you don’t need to go all the way to Paris, to channel the inner French woman in you. And capture that famous French careless feeling. Simply, put on the red lipstick, black mini-skirt, sheer black tights, and some stars. I mean the stars on your white sneakers.
As I promised in blog post Ways to wear embellished white sneakers, I’m finally sharing my chic Parisian style that perfectly blends with the style of always stylish French women on the streets of Paris. You wouldn’t believe the number of French women passing by me wearing the same outfit as I, the black mini skirt, black coat, sheer black tights and white sneakers. Only that I was the bitch, who stole their look this time. And there is only one thing I can say as an apology. Je m’en fous!
HOW TO DRESS AS A CHIC FRENCH WOMAN
You must have heard French women wear only black, stripes, ballet flats and white sneakers, or ankle boots and red lipstick. Not entirely true, though. The French style goes far beyond black, stripes and wardrobe basics. Still, you can’t miss the French style by wearing this outfit. So here I’m sharing with you the most basic outfit you should wear this weekend. If you are exploring Paris as I am or if you are out and about in your hometown city, this is what you should wear.
OUT AND ABOUT PRETENDING TO BE FRENCH
My second Parisian outfit (by the way, you can check my first Parisian look on my Instagram) is all. It’s stylish, looks somehow like French, at least as much as it can be when taking into consideration the 1/4 of French in me. What I love the most about this outfit, apart from being comfortable, is that it’s fashionable. In case you missed one of my previous blog post on the current fashion trends, let me tell you four things: white embellished sneakers, mini ruffled skirt, the cape and black mini bag. You can add some stripes, too. I suggest wearing a striped pullover under the cape, or even better a striped jumper with a hood.
Make sure you follow me on the Instagram to see how I will wear another version of my today’s outfit. With the striped pullover on the streets of Ljubljana.
WEAR MY STYLE
As said, I decided to wear the black and white this time. Not because I though all black would be boring, but because I wanted to see if I can pull off this French style. If so many Parisian can do it, why couldn’t I and you afterward, right?
Honestly, wearing sneakers, the white sneakers, with all black clothes felt new to me. And not because of the colors, but because of the combination of the sneakers and the skirt. I can’t recall the last time I wore sneakers with a skirt. Thinking better, I probably haven’t at all.
Anyway, the Parisians convinced me this is a great combination. As long as you are comfortable in your sneakers. Which I’m not anymore. At least not after walking 15 km around the Paris! But more about that later.
Back to my outfit. I wore a black mini ruffled skirt and sheer black tights. I was thinking of wearing the fishnet tights with this outfit at first. I changed my mind after finding out that the fishnets, I brought with me to Paris, make me look small when wearing them with flats.
As it comes to the top, I’m wearing a black silk blouse, a jacquard boyfriend blazer, and a cape. This cape that I’m wearing proved to be the best outwear piece of clothing I could wear in the windy morning and later in the afternoon when it warmed up.
Lastly, as you can see, I added an elegant twist to my outfit. The gloves, obviously. You won’t see many French women wearing gloves, though. Still, fashion is all about giving a personal touch to any outfit you wear.

In case you are wondering, I’m strolling through the Tuileries Garden.
Finally, back to the white sneakers, I’m wearing. After walking 15 km wearing those sneakers, I changed my mind about them as comfortable shoes. It’s confirmed; they are far from comfortable after walking for more than 6 km wearing them. Perhaps because they are quite new. Still, after causing me blisters on my heels, they are off my Chic list. I just can’t believe these white sneakers are not made for walking a long distance.
Lastly, on how to pull off the French style. There is actually only one secret of the chic French style: being careless and happy whatever you are wearing.
