Shop These Pieces Before Cold Damages Your Skin and Style
All You Need to Put On Before You Go Outside in Cold
Are you feeling cold today? I bet you do. I mean it’s really, but really cold outside. Even the foundation is freezing on our face. And our hair, omg, our hair could crack anytime. Don’t worry, I know just what you need to wear to face the cold in style. And how to protect your hair and skin from the polar wind. Believe me; I truly know how to dress for cold weather. Afterall I survived through the coldest winter in Canada. And after reading this, you will know too.
And I thought I escaped the cold when I moved from Canada for good. Well, it seems like the cold followed me to Paris Fashion week. Because, gals, it’s extremely cold here right now. Like really cold. Well, I probably don’t even need to tell you this. I bet you were freezing yesterday and your hair looks damaged. Nails brittle, lips cracked. Not mentioning your skin. It’s super dry and itchy, right?
FACING THE COLD LIKE A FASHION BLOGGER
Don’t worry, I made a list of all the things I use to combat the cold weather. Here is all we need to protect our skin, hair, and nails in the cold wearher. While we are not feeling cold either. Hell, no I’m not letting the cold damage your skin, hair, nails or style.
But before we head on my list of cold weather essentials for your entire look, yes skin, hair and nails included few tips on how to dress for cold weather.
Ps. You will find my Chic winter list of all the items you need to use and wear in cold weather at the end of this post.

WHAT TO WEAR WHEN IT’S REALLY COLD
You have probably read this one and million times. When it’s cold, do the layering. Wear layers of clothes. Nevertheless, you might still don’t know what kind of layers everyone is talking about. Surely, everyone keeps saying wear a knitted sweater and a top underneath, tights and thick pants. But everyone seems to forget to mention what matters the most. The materials of course.
I mean, you can put on cosy synthetic knits, but hey, you won’t feel any warmer in those. What you need are clothes made of natural fibers. Starting with the underwear. Yes, from underwear to the coat, you should dress only clothes made of natural materials.
HOW TO DO THE LAYERING RIGHT
So, what exactly I have in mind? Silky underwear or underwear made of 100 % cotton, tights made of cotton and silk blend or merino wool. Or even better cashmere tights. Then a silk blouse, cashmere sweater, tweed jacket, a coat made of virgin wool. Or fashionable shearling jacket. Ps. Double-breasted coat is warmer than a single one.
As it goes to the pants, well this can be tricky. I like to wear my thick denim jeans. Although the truth is that denim can be quite cold sometimes. If it’s not of good quality. Anyway, these denim jeans that I’m wearing are actually warm.
THE COLD WEATHER SHOES
Now to the shoes. We all know classic UGG boots are the warmest shoes. Yet, not the most fashionable ones. Nor the ones you could wear anywhere. Especially not to the office. And no, even though the business code is all changed in 2019 (remember I wrote about this just the other day over here), UGG boots still don’t make it to the office. Not mentioning the Sorel boots. Or any other ski boots as a matter of fact.
If you want to walk around feeling warm yet not jeopardizing your style, you must look for quality shoes that bring best of those ugly yet warm shoes. Again, look for shoes that are made of natural materials (read the real leather) and have a wool insole. And are waterproof.
My favourite winter shoes are over the knee boots, hiking boots, cowboy boots and even sock boots (even though these are not as fashionable sa they were back in 2018) as I can wear really thick socks in sock boots. You know, as they stretch.
Ps. Be sure to check the list of all winter shoes that are in fashion this winter. It’s over here!
GRAB THE RIGHT BAG FOR COLD
Finally the bag. Believe it or not, a bag matters too. The bigger the bag, the warmer you will feel. Well yes, I should have grabbed a bigger tote when leaving home this time. But I was running late, again, and you know, when I run late, I just grab the bag I have by my bed. Ps. You can read more about my on the go, running late, outfits over here.
Anyway, as said, opt for bigger bags in winter. And wear it on your elbow to make sure the bag cover your tights. I don’t know about you, but I always feel cold there.
WINTER WARMERS
Lastly, come the winter warmers. First, for me the most important of them all, the gloves. Surely, the warmest gloves are actually the mittens. But we all know those are not really the most stylish ones. Besides, the mittens can be quite unpractical. Oh and don’t come with the flip option. Surely you can flip the tip, but then you will be freezing again. Believe the double gloves are a far better option than the mittens. And no, this doesn’t mean you should actually put on two pairs of gloves. What I’m writing about are leather gloves with wool and cashmere lining.
Never leave your home without a hat. I left mine at home and now I’m cold here in Paris. And no the beret doesn’t do much. A beret is for the nice, warm weather. When the temperatures fall far below the zero, you need something far thicker. Like this faux fur hat that I’m wearing here. Surely, you will look like Russian princess, but hey, the one with style and class. And what matters the most, you won’t feel cold.
As it goes to the scarf. I must admit, I don’t like wearing one. Besides, I have long hair that keep me warm. Writing about the hair, you must protect your hair before you step outside into the winter cold. Or your hair will get dry. Or even worse get damaged.
MY WINTER ESSENTIALS
Finally, my list of all the things you need to have and use before you face the cold weather. Again, you can shop all the items straight from the list, or if this sounds too complicated, find it in the widget below.
As I already mentioned all the things you need to wear to stay warm in the cold weather, all I need to mention now is how to protect your hair, skin and nails. Yes, nails too. You didn’ think there was any other reason why your nails are so brittle right now, did you? Yes, you broke your nail due to cold this time.
HAIR PRODUCTS YOU NEED TO USE IN WINTER
Here are the hair products I use to make sure my hair doesn’t get dry in winter. I must admit, I was making a mistake up until now. My hair seemed slightly dry because I was using the wrong hair dryer. Yes, this blowing monster matters too. In fact, it matters more than all the products we put on our hair.
No, I’m not going to write you shouldn’t dry your hair with the hairdryer. Far from that. Leaving your hair to dry on its own in the heated apartment would be much worse. You need to dry your hair with the hairdryer that has that ion technology. In case you haven’t heard about the power of ions yet, ions are there to seal the cuticle to lock in moisture.
You know I use Balmain an Oribe hair products. However, I’m using few other products in winter too. You can find them all in the gallery below. Ps. In case you had to cut your damaged hair and you are looking for an easy way to make your lock grow back faster and stronger, read my tips over here.
NO MORE ITCHY DRY SKIN
Does your skin feel too small these days? Mine doesn’t. Luckily. Well, you know what, luck has nothing to do with this. It’s all about these products that I use.
Starting with the extra moisturising face and body cream. The essential hand cream, lip balm and my winter foundation. Apart from the Dior cushion I also use Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation Foundation (shop here) and Diorsnow foundation (get here).
I’m also using another face cream these days. Instead of Diorsnow, I use Dior Prestige (this one here) and the new serum from Dior’s Capture Youth collection. I’m using the Plump Filler Age-Delay Plumping Serum now (check & shop it here). Find them all in the widget below.
There are no words to describe how grateful I’m to that lady at Hudson’s Bay who introduced me to the Origins hand cream when my hands were bleeding because of the cold back in Canada. This cream is the best hand cream ever. Not only it cures your skin instantly, but it also doesn’t rinse off straight away. You can get it over here.
I use different lip balms this winter. Mostly because I have to make sure the balm doesn’t get onto my Invisalign. Yet, my favourite is Dior Addict Lip Maximizer (get it here) that not only makes my lips stay hydrated and smooth but fuller too.
BRITTLE NAILS? NOT THIS WINTER!
Finally, the nails. While the hand cream I use helps the nails, too. My nails probably wouldn’t stay as strong and sooth if I didn’t use Dior Diorlisse Abricot Petale de Rose 500 (shop here). I noticed this one works the best for my nails. Plus, lets me have a French Manicure with only two strokes and no effort at all.
MORE WINTER FASHION AND MORE STYLE
So this is it, all the items you need to bare this winter cold in style while staying warm. Oh, you can thank me later. And don’t forget to share this post with your girl squad too. Especially with that girlfriend who is freezing all the time, and the other one whose hair looks like a broom these days, the one that just broke her nail and the other one who looks like her dry skin will fall off her face anytime. Omg, that used to be me. By the way, how are you facing the cold these days? If you have any other tips, please share them in the comment box below.
