Red outfit makeup is something you should watch for. Solely because it can ruin your entire look. The catch here is not to wear up to a point, Pinterest like, makeup together with the red to toe outfit. Especially not on your nails or lips.
After publishing my latest outfit post (The Colour You Should Start Wearing Today), many of you asked me what makeup should you wear with the red outfit. Indeed doing the right makeup when wearing head to toe red can be quite challenging. And limited not to say anything else. Yet the rule is only one: don’t try too much. The biggest mistake you can do is to go for one of those Pinterest-perfect makeup looks. You know what I mean. The more is more look with the perfectly countered and highlighted face, cut crease eye makeup, eyebrows on fleek, extremely long fake lashes, perfectly lined glossy lips and on the top, stiletto red nails with some and sparkly dust don’t go with the red outfit.
Don’t get me wrong; this doesn’t mean your only option is nude, natural makeup. Although I must say the glowing, radiant natural looking makeup, is my favourite red outfit makeup. However, there are another two makeup looks we should have in mind together with the red outfit this season.
3 RED OUTFIT MAKEUP IDEAS YOU MUST TRY
As said, there are 3 makeup styles you can wear with the red outfits this season. Regarding the materials you are wearing and your makeup skills of course.
1# GLOWING BUT NOT LIKE THE RED TRAFFIC LIGHT
I truly hope your first thought was not the red lipgloss. Ps. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear red on your lips when wearing red outfit. Just not glossy red.
Anyway, what I have in mind here, is glowing, radiant, healthy looking skin. Which, you already know from here, happens to be my favourite summer 2017 makeup trend. It so refreshing and there are so many options to get this look.
3 WAYS TO GET GLOWING SKIN
CUSHION + POWDER
My way to get the glowing face is simply by applying the Dior cushion and set it with the duo matte and glow powder.
Although, truth to be told the easiest way to get this glowing look is using the jelly mask. Yet I’m not sure you can have it on your face all day long. Probably not. Nevertheless, there is also the third option.
FOUNDATION + OIL
You might prefer this one on an extremely hot day when you don’t want to wear layers of makeup on your face. Simply mix your favourite foundation with few drops of your favourite oil and apply the mixture as you normally apply your liquid foundation.
Ps. Find all the products to get the radiant, glowing skin.
OMBRE LIPS OR MATTE RED LIPS
Red makeup with the red outfit might not be the best idea if you don’t do it right. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear the red eyeshadow or furthermore the red lipstick. All the contrary, you can put on some red lipstick. As long as it’s matte (I’m wearing Dior 999 Matte Rouge Lipstick) and barely to be there on your lips. Tip: Use your finger to apply the lipstick! Also be sure to check my previous blog post over here with all the tips I learned from Dior fashion artist in Paris.
I somehow ended up with the ombre look the other day. After having 4 scoops of ice cream before the shooting. But that’s all right. As ombre lips are officially back. By the way, if ice cream is not an option, check the gallery to see how you can get a legit ombre lips.
SMUDGED AND SMOKED EYES
Either classic black or edgy red, this might be your winning makeup look from morning to evening. Well, the red smoked eyes might be better for you in the morning to cover your tiredness. Wait! Don’t say you didn’t know the red eyeliner helps you look more fresh in the morning. Well, now you know.
Anyway, what ever the colour you go for, the rule is only one. Same as with the lipstick. Make it look smudged or at least not perfect. You can toss the tape, put the ruler back to your pencil case and spoon back to the kitchen. You don’t need to bother with drawing the perfect line around your eyes this summer.
All you need is the right eyeshadow and eyeliner. Well, not even the last one, if you have the right eyeshadow brush.
Ps. As it goes for the nails. I mean what I wrote once before. Red nails, especially when long, are a no no with the red outfits. Keep your nails in natural shades. You can’t really see in these photos, but I’m wearing the French manicure. Not that I wanted this look, though. I simply put on two layers of the Diorlisse Abricot Base in snow pink (shop here) Abricot Primer and I got this perfect nails. Another great option to wear with the red outfits is the mirror metallic nails (short nail obviously). Although slightly paseé already. By the way, do you happen to know where to get the rose gold mirror metallic nail polish? I had no luck so far.
Do you know any other red outfit makeup that I might forget? I would appreciate if you left your ideas in the comments below. Also, be sure to follow me Instagram to be the first one to know when I come up with another makeup look that goes perfectly with the red outfit this season.
