It’s quite obvious that we have been blessed with the most beautiful fall in years. While light sun rays are slowly changing green leaves in those beautiful autumnal warm tones, we get to enjoy walking in the park in a shimmery light. So romantic, right? No wonders why so many couples are getting married right now, at the end of autumn, in November. It’s pretty, plus they don’t need to splurge on rice and rose leaves for wedding guests to throw at them. There are plenty of autumnal leaves for that.

Still, after taking a closer look at the weather report, you might soon realize that a wedding in November can be a problem. The weather report is not always right. And before you know you could be walking down the isle cowered with a slippery brown sheet and not pretty autumnal leaves as first planed.

Luckily you are not the bride, right? Whatsoever, a bride or not, dressing for a wedding in late fall is a bit tricky for wedding guests too. Especially if you are going to a black-tie wedding and you are not shopping for your fall wedding guest dress in the last minute. Which I guess you don’t.

But if you do, here is a dress for you – Self-Portrait Navy Off Shoulder Floral Scallop Dress (buy here).

HOW TO STYLE LATE FALL WEDDING GUEST DRESS FOR A RAINY WEDDING DAY

So first, how to style this beautiful Self-Portrait Navy Floral Scallop Dress (get here) for a black-tie fall wedding on a rainy day. As said, simply put on a dark trench coat and wear it like this.

DARK TRENCH COAT

Surely, a trench coat is not a staple overcoat for a black-tie wedding. Unless it’s raining and you are wearing a dark trench coat made of a special fabric. By special, I mean any fabric that doesn’t look as casual as cotton. Like satin, satin or polyamide.

The trench coat I’m wearing is made of polyamide, and it’s from Michale Kors. Unfortunately, my trench coat is currently out of stock. But there is this Burberry trench coat (the one you see in the collage above) that looks similar and make a perfect overcoat for a fall wedding on a rainy day. Or when you are cold. You can shop it here. Ps. It has a hood too, so you won’t actually need an umbrella. Well, if you still want to hold an umbrella – get this beautiful floral clear umbrella from Kate Spade New York (shop here).

Again, a dark trench coat is OK for a black-tie wedding in fall if it’s made of satin, silk or even polyamide. By the way, I also found this gorgeous silk trench coat in blush (see/shop here), that would go perfectly with my other November fall wedding guest dress.

Ps. You can see my other fancy wedding guest dress for the November wedding over here.

BLACK-TIE WEDDING GUEST DRESS FOR NOVEMBER WEDDING

Mentioning the dress, again, the dress I’m wearing is from Self-Portrait, and you can buy it here. Trust me, you won’t regret buying it. Especially not because you can wear it in two different ways.

No, I didn’t make a typo earlier when I wrote that I’m wearing a Self-Portrait Navy Off Shoulder Floral Scallop Dress. This dress is actually an off-shoulder dress. I’m only wearing it with the sleeves on my shoulder this time. Ps. Off-shoulder dresses are coming back in style for spring summer 2020. Meaning, you will be able to wear this dress for a wedding next year too. No one will know it’s the same dress, plus it will be the most fashionable wedding guest dress you could wear at the time.

AND THIS IS HOW TO WEAR THE SAME DRESS ON A SUNNY WEDDING DAY IN NOVEMBER

Thinking ahead, yet staying in November – this is how to style Self-Portrait Navy Off Shoulder Floral Scallop Dress for weeding on a sunny fall day. Merely wear the sleeves on the shoulders, put on some blue pumps and grab a clutch bag.

BLUE PUMPS

Once again I’m wearing the most comfortable pumps I have ever tried – Gianvito Rossi blue pumps. And no, it’s not just me, the fact that these pumps get sold out so quickly proves how comfortable they are, too.

Anyways, click here to buy blue pumps from Gianivto Rossi too. It’s hardly you will get a pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps in the bold blue colour (like the one I’m wearing), but I’m pretty sure you will be able to get it in navy blue. Which is not bad at all, after all your shoes will match the dress you are wearing.

Oh, about the matching. You keep asking me whether the shoes should match a purse for a wedding.

DO SHOES HAVE TO MATCH BAG FOR FALL WEDDING

So here is the thing. Shoes don’t have to match a bag for a fall wedding in 2019. Furthermore, shoes don’t have to match a bag for a black-tie wedding in fall either. As a matter of fact, matching bag with shoes is not really fashionable right now.

But wait! Matching bag with shoes for fall wedding might be fashionable in 2020. I wrote it might be because we don’t know for sure yet. I will keep you posted about this fashion trend, so make sure you sign up for a blog post updates. Click the little bell in the right bottom corner of your desktop. If you are reading this article on your mobile, turn on the desktop view to click the bell.

FALL WEDDING PURSE

Anyway, back to my November black-tie wedding guest outfit. As you can see I’m wearing a black clutch that matches only the thinly black waistband on my navy dress. Just to let you know, my black purse comes from Armani but is not for sale at the moment. Frankly, I don’t know when, if even, is coming back to stock, so better shop one of those black purses (starting at $68 for a bag) in the widget below. Ps. The black purse in both collages is Bottega Veneta, and you can get it here.

FALL WEDDING GUEST MAKEUP AND HAIR

Last but not least, my fall wedding guest makeup and hair. Truth to be told, I didn’t want to go overboard with my hairstyle even though this is my black-tie wedding guest look. I merely pinned my hair by the side with this pearl hair clip. Since my hair is wavy by nature and I have bangs now, I feel I don’t need to bother much with my hair most of the time. Still, if you want to make an effort and do the wedding beauty things all by yourself check this post to get a few tips.
