Again, these photos were taken during my birthday this week. And this was my birthday brunch outfit. Yes, this year, I decided to have a birthday brunch party. After the crazy clubbing in Paris for my birthday last year, I thought it’s time for a more sophisticated birthday party again.

Ps. Not sure if you remember, but I had a birthday picnic two years ago that was quite fancy. I absolutely loved it. And so did my birthday picnic guests.

FORGET THE PICNIC – THIS YEAR WE HAD A BIRTHDAY BRUNCH PARTY

Anyways, as said, this year I celebrated my birthday by having an elegant birthday brunch party — furthermore, a sophisticated birthday brunch party with a dress code. Yes, my birthday brunch party had a dress code. I asked my birthday party guests to wear a cocktail dress.

Surly, I attached a little note with this link to the invitation to my birthday brunch party. Not to be pretentious, but, to make sure no one had to browse through the stores for a new fashionable little black dress. As a matter of fact, even I picked this black cocktail dress – my birthday dress from that list.

Well, actually, my parents picked it for me. This beautiful short sleeve floral mesh midi dress (buy here) was a birthday gift from my parents.

Luckily this beautiful cocktail dress came a few days before my birthday, right on time for the birthday brunch party rehearsal. Indeed, we had a rehearsal because I wanted to take photos of my birthday brunch outfit to share them with you before the big day. Also, to get enough time to write this article and prepare a fashion cheat sheet for a birthday brunch outfit.

Mentioning the birthday party fashion cheat sheet, scroll down to save or pin it.

BIRTHDAY BRUNCH DRESS

So about my birthday dress. Isn’t this the most beautiful black cocktail dress? I think it is! Well, coming from Self-Portrait (click here to shop my birthday dress) the beauty of this cocktail dress runs in the thread.

As you can see, my beautiful short sleeve floral midi birthday brunch dress is made of tulle covered by light pink embroidery and pink flowers made of sequins. The exceptional blend of tulle cut in layers and overlapping semi-sheer ruffles will enhance your figure and make you like a chic princess, too.

Well, this dress does make me look like a princess for my birthday, doesn’t it?

Just look at the ruffles, sleeves, and sequins. The puffy sleeves and sequins make this cocktail dress even more glamorous. For sure, it will put you in the spotlight, letting everyone know you are the birthday girl.

By the way, the pink flowers are skilfully scattered across the tulle. And there is no worry any of the sequins will fall off the dress. Well done, Self Portrait! Another thing that I love about sequins on this dress is that they don’t have a sharp edge. Or are made of a material that would crack. I hope you don’t know what I mean. But if you like sequin dresses, you probably do.

Well, unless you only know Self Portrait sequin dresses. By the way, this embroidered tulle dress comes in other shapes too. See the gallery below.

BIRTHDAY SHOES

Truth to be told, I was planning to wear these shoes (see here) with my birthday party dress to make sure the dress stood out. But I completely forgot about that idea and put on the blue Gianvito Rossi pumps (buy here) instead. Well, that happens if you get dressed in a hurry and put on the first thing you see in your wardrobe.

Ps. It’s OK if you are late for your own birthday party. Just make it until the time for the birthday cake.

Wait, don’t get me wrong! I’m not saying that because I wouldn’t like my blue shoes. You know I love my Gianvito Rossi pumps. But you keep seeing me in these shoes every time I’m having a brunch.

ACCESSORIES

Thanks to the high neck, puffy sleeves, embroidery, and sequins, this cocktail dress doesn’t need any accessories. All you need is a little purse for the car keys (in case someone gives you a brand new car for your birthday) and your mobile phone. You know, to reply to all your birthday wishes the moment they come. Trust me, it’s better to do that straight away. It took me a day and a half to answer all the birthday wishes last year just because I didn’t carry my phone all the time.

Anyway, back to the accessories that go with this birthday brunch outfit. As said, you don’t need anything else but a clutch. I wore a black clutch (shop similar here – from Bottega Veneta or click here for a more affordable clutch – under $100) that matched the black ribbon on my birthday dress.

Another accessory that I wore for my birthday brunch party is a pearl hairpin (click here to shop for a quality pearl hairpin and here for a pearl hairpin that costs only $3, but is as good as the first one – in my experiences). Indeed, I only wore one more accessory. At least before oppening all the birthday gifts. I got a few if these accessories as a birthday gift. And I put three of them on straight away.

BIRTHDAY MAKEUP AND BIRTHDAY HAIR

Last but not least, my birthday makeup and birthday hair. Since I had a birthday brunch party at noon, I decided to keep my birthday makeup as minimal as possible. For a party, of course. After all, this was my ** birthday party, and I wanted to look beautiful. But still, I wanted to look young as well!

Whatsoever, since heavy makeup adds ages, which I have too many already, I only wore a plum burgundy smokey eye from Burberry (shop here), that matched the colour of my birthday brunch dress and a raspberry lip balm from Dior (get here).

Well, truth to be told, I also applied a few other makeup products, so be sure to browse through the widget below. Also, be sure to save or pin the makeup cheat sheet.
