Snowflakes dancing in the air, while you two are snuggling on the picnic blanket in the middle of beautiful winter scenery. Sounds like a perfect, yet slightly different Valentine’s date, right? Or is it? Well, it’s different for sure but is this winter picnic romantic enough for Valentine’s Day? Yes, it is! As long as you dress for a blizzard and not for your guy.

And we finally have it. Snow I mean. So much snow that we could export it to Sweden. If we only would. You know I’m more of a spring summer autumn type of a gal. Still, without so much snow, I wouldn’t be able to have a proper picnic in the snow. Oh yes, I simply had to have a snowy winter picnic. And no, not only because you keep coming to Brunette from Wall Street looking for some chic winter picnic outfits, but I really wanted to.

So without thinking twice, I went outside the house with my picnic blankets in one hand and my basket bag in other and had a winter picnic in the middle of the snow storm. What snowstorm, a blizzard!

WINTER PICNIC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SNOWSTORM

Oh about that proper winter picnic … let’s just say it was more winter than a picnic. You know what I mean. Or perhaps not. As romantic winter picnic is, I doubt anyone else is crazy enough to make a winter picnic in the snowstorm. Well, unless you are pretending to be Frozen once in a while.

Whatsoever, winter picnic in the snow can be fun and quite romantic. All those snowflakes are dancing in the air and tickling your nose. Sounds like a quite romantic winter Valentine’s Day Date, doesn’t it? At least for the guys who always dress waterproof and warm enough for the snow.

Anyway, I made sure to get you ready for a winter picnic in the snow. Just for the case, you have a slightly crazy guy, who might take you out to sit on the picnic blanket instead of a proper chair in some fancy restaurant this Valentine’s Day.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR A WINTER PICNIC IN BLIZZARD

So what to wear for a snowy winter picnic in the blizzard this year? Wait! Let us have a look at what not wear for a snowy picnic first. I probably don’t even need to say this winter picnic is far from the one I had on a windy day (remember here). Surely picnic in the snow sounds more fun than a picnic in the wind. I mean you can build a snowman and have a snowball fight. But when it comes to what to wear for a winter picnic in the snow, in the blizzard, this winter picnic becomes a nightmare.

YOU SHOULDN’T WEAR THIS FOR A WINTER PICNIC

In short, you shouldn’t wear anything I’m wearing this time. I told you I went out to have a picnic in the snow without thinking twice.

Well, you could wear this puffer jacket, a faux fur hat and even bobby sneakers as they surprisingly didn’t get wet. Still, rather not.

Truth to be told, after the picnic in the snow I had last year (here in case you missed that post), I was convinced I would know how to dress for a proper winter picnic by now. But I was wrong! I guess it’s been way too long since I played in a blizzard and I forgot how wet snow can be. Especially if you sit on the blanket for a while.

Did I get wet? Of course, I did. Snow was all over me. But on my Marant sneakers.

SHOP AND WEAR MY OUTFIT. SOME OTHER TIME

Before we head on what you should actually wear for a winter picnic in a blizzard a quick check on what I wore this time. You can shop everything I’m wearing simply by clicking on the items in the EDIT (the link will take you to the store) or browsing them in the gallery below.

WINTER SNEAKERS

As said, I’m wearing Isabel Marant Bobby sneakers (shop here) which surprisingly turned out to be waterproof this time. Well, actually I never get wet in these sneakers. And I keep wearing them in the rain too. Although, my sister who wears 3 sizes bigger Marant’s doesn’t have such luck. I guess it depends on the size of these wedge sneakers. By the way, wedge sneakers are in fashion again – check my SS 18 Fashion Report to find out more.

PUFFER JACKET

I’m wearing the puffer jacket with a shearling hood, which happens to be the most fashionable jacket for the ski slopes and winter picnics in the snow. Mine down jacket is from Tommy Hilfiger. Unfortunately, it’s sold out already. This snow surprised us too late. I mean I’m shopping for spring already. Ps. My spring summer 2018 shopping guide is coming up on Brunette from Wall Street these days. Anyway, about the down puffer jacket. You can shop similar here.

UNSEEN

Under the puffer jacket, I’m wearing layers and layers of clothes. You didn’t think I would dress for the photos, did you? Well yes, I wear sandals when it’s close to zero for the photos (check my Instagram to see those), but even then I make sure I’m feeling warm.
So what exactly I’m I wearing? A cashmere sweater (shop here or get a similar wool sweater from J.Crew on the budget here) and a sweatshirt. Again from Tommy Hilfiger (shop here). Ps. Tommy Hilfiger has the best winter basics.

I’m also wearing 2 thick thighs from Wolford. Yes, you read 2. These merino ones here and another one made of silk and cotton (shop here).

WINTER WARMERS

You know this faux fur hat that I’m wearing already as I also wore it for the outdoor party over here. It’s from Bart’s, and you can shop it on Amazon (over here).

The gloves. I can’t believe I got those for skiing. These were the worst buy ever. They got wet, and my hands turned all red. Luckily I found far better gloves over here. More fashionable and what matters the most waterproof.

Finally, the jeans. As much as I love these A.P.C. jeans (shop here), I couldn’t have chosen worse pants for my winter picnic in the snow. You can see I got wet all over the jeans. Well, at least I was smart enough to put on 2 tights under these jeans. No, under those which nights I didn’t feel my jeans are wet, but you can only imagine what it was like when I had to take them off. In short, I needed help.

SNOWY PICNIC ESSENTIALS YOU SHOULDN’T FORGET

I almost forgot to mention the snowy winter picnic essentials. Truth to be told, you won’t be able to eat anything fancy in the blizzard. You can forget the club sandwiches and sponge cake with cream. I guess you could have those snacks from the gallery below, but I advise you to have fun with snowballs instead (don’t eat snow though!) and go for a real dinner to some fancy restaurant later.

Also, you better get more than one blanket. I had 3. The bottom one was waterproof. But it didn’t help much as it was snowing and in the end, all 3 blankets were soaking wet.

Ps. I mean seriously with the beacon and snow shovel.

MORE PICNICS AND MORE VALENTINE’S IDEAS

I should probably warn you from the snowy winter picnics. Picnic in the snow, moreover picnics in the middle of a blizzard is not the best idea for the Valentines’s Day. There are fare better Valentine’s ideas waiting for you over here. And more sophisticated outfits over here. Still, if your guy drags you out to the snow, at least make sure you dress for the snow and not your guy. I mean, this one is on him. He should rather take you to a proper date anyway. Whatsoever, be sure to swipe through the galleries to find the right outfit for a snowy winter picnic. Oh, and in case you do get wet. Just make sure you pay your guy back and throw a ball in his face. He earned it!

Oh yes, I know Canadian snow and cold very well. I don’t think I’m brave enough for picnic in Canadian snow though.
