There’s no doubt that 2018 is a year of a pencil skirt. Yes, that sassy, classic, elegant, modest skirt is in fashion again. Wait sassy or modest? It can be both if in your 20s. And here is just how to wear a pencil skirt if you are 20 something fashion girl. A must see and read no doubt.

IT SKIRTS OF SPRING SUMMER 2018

Sure, the winter is still here, but this doesn’t mean we can’t head on to the new season already. I mean why waiting where there are so many exciting new trends waiting for us to try them on. The first one on my list? Well, yes, you guessed it. It’s the pencil skirt. The IT skirt of Spring Summer 2018. Well, it shares its spot with another skirt, but we already know how to wear that one. Ps. In case you missed my SS 2018 Fashion Report, be sure to check it here.

Anyway, this time is all about the chic, sassy and, elegant skirt. The classic pencil skirt of course. I repeat the pencil skirts are in style again! Still, this doesn’t mean fashion is getting modest this season. Remember the 80s are in too. Meaning, we won’t be wearing pencil skirts in a classic way either. Besides, we are still in our 20s. And if you are a 20 something girl you simply shouldn’t wear this classic skirt in the same as your mother does.

HOW TO WEAR THE PENCIL SKIRT FOR WORK THIS SEASON IF YOU ARE NOT A SECRETARY. OR DON’T WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOUR OLD TEACHER

I’m quite sure every single one thinks only of two women when mentioning pencil skirts. A sexy secretary or a modest teacher. And neither of them are close to my style. And I’m certain they are not close to yours either. Especially if you are a boss girl from Wall Street or a chic 20 something fashionista. The thing is that wearing a pencil skirt in your 20s is not like wearing it in your 30s.

Ps. If you are in your 30s, 40s or 50s be sure to check the EDIT at the end of this post to find out how to wear pencil skirt if you are not in your 20s anymore.

So how to wear a pencil skirt in your 20s then? In short, like me this time. Classy, smart yet so chic. By the way, we are talking about how to wear pencil skirt s for work this time. An update on how to wear this IT skirt of the season casually is coming up on Brunette from Wall Street blog in April.

THE RIGHT WAY TO STYLE PENCIL SKIRT IN YOUR 20s

Just like I said, the best way to style the pencil skirt for work in your 20s is the same as I did this time. With over the knee boots. That come in a similar shade. Yes, pencil skirt and over the knee boots are such a great match. Not only they look chic and fashionable together, they still look professional and elegant enough to wear them to the office.

And no, your OTK boots don’t even need to be suede ones. Smooth leather over the knee boots looks smart with the pencil skirt as well. Especially when matched with a silk blouse. However, these suede OTK boots are mine on the go boots. Especially when I’m late.

PENCIL SKIRT

I’m pretty sure you know all the things I’m wearing this time, but this gorgeous pencil skirt. In fact, I was holding on with this blog post to make sure, I put this pencil skirt in the spotlight. Because it well deserves all the attention. Don’t you think?

Anyway, this pencil skirt comes from Escada, which happens to have the best pencil skirts I have ever tried. This skirt is so comfortable. Also, a little secret. You can even wear it with the sneakers. Ps. Let me know in the comments below if you want to see how to style the pencil skirt with sneakers on a day off.

COAT

My coat is from Weekend Maxmara. You can get a similar coat from Maxmara here or get a trench coat that would go perfectly with this pencil skirt over here (or on a budget here).

BLOUSE

I couldn’t think any better option to wear with my pencil skirt for office than black silk blouse. It makes the entire outfit look chic and sophisticated. My black silk blouse comes from Juicy Couture. Yes, that Juicy Couture. Apart from the velours, they happen to have the most sophisticated and romantic clothes for 20 something girls. Especially for those under 25. Anyway, they don’t have this blouse on sale anymore. But you can shop similar black silk blouse here and one from J.Crew for only $34.99 here. Both silk though.

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

As said, to make the pencil skirt work on you in your 20s, you need to style it with suede over the knee boots. In the same colour! Or a shade different. Mine are from Stuart Weitzman. You can get them in brown colour here. Ps. Check how I wear my OTK boots with suede pencil skirt here.

HOW TO WEAR THE PENCIL SKIRT AT ANY AGE

Not in your 20s? Don’t worry, I have a little tip on how to style your pencil skirt for you too. Just check the EDIT below. Oh, and again, you can shop straight from the EDIT. Just click or touch on the piece you like when you see the pink frame.

So what’s the difference in styling your pencil skirt as you age? You can get bolder and look sassier. In your 20s you need to balance it all. You shouldn’t look too old yet not too sexy. Once you turn 30 the only goal, you should have is to look chic. In your 40s you need to make fashion work for you. Ps. Add a belt and cinch your waist. Remember you are a real deal boss. And the bold suits are in fashion for Spring Summer 2018. In your 50s pencil skirt should be more fun and comfortable again. Although far from boring.
