I happen to wear a straight-leg black suit, but it could be any other suit. Like that ugly grey suit that you have hanging in your closet since you graduated and your brain says you should toss it. Or a fashionable wide-leg pantsuit.

Well, the good news is that you don’t need to toss any of your boring suits to look more fashionable at the office. Simply style it with these pieces from your capsule wardrobe.

Starting with the court shoes, since I updated my black suit with the nebulas blue satin heels.

Scarves are having their moment this season. So if you are not in your late thirties yet, then tying a silky scarf around your neck would be a perfect styling trick that will update your everyday business look.

3 NAIL POLISH

Lastly the nail polish. I see a surprise on your face. But don’t look like that. Nail polish is the cheapest fashion fix you can use to update your outdated business formal outfit.

Surely it’s a risky one. Mainly because you need to have in mind the business code. But as long as you keep your nails short, there is no colour you couldn’t wear for work. If not explicitly prohibited of course.

Only one tip, don’t match your nail polish with your shoes. Rather wear contrasting colours instead. For example, if you are wearing nebulous blue pumps like me, then apply nail polish in russet orange. A meerkat with red pear, quetzal green with ceylon yellow, ultraviolet with limelight …
