Brunette from Wall Street what to wear fall breakfast outfits

THE BEST FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR HOTEL & HOME

Fall breakfast outfits here! With the holiday season around the corner, be primed and prepped for breakfast at the 5* hotel or stay in your cosy mood when you hear a croissant calling your name. Again, breakfast comes with a dress code. It’s like a croissant with a filling. Under the soft layers of flaky pastry (think about tweed jackets layered on silk blouses), you will find either a jam (it’s giving a breakfast at the restaurant/cafeteria/hotel – that is polished elegance in terms of fashion), chocolate (for business breakfast and those laptop-and-latte workdays), or … nothing (think about cable knit cardigans and mohair sweaters that don’t require extra layers) – perfect for a leisurely morning meal in your own garden, channelling the old-money aesthetic. Feeling inspired? Scroll down to find your perfect fall breakfast outfit and embrace the crisp morning air.

OGLAS I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

Whether you’re enchanted by the old money aesthetic or actually are an old money and want to refresh your autumn breakfast wardrobe, have an important morning meeting to dress for, or (oh, you will drag me down the rabbit hole for this one) you are looking for a chic fall breakfast outfit to wear to the restaurant/cafeteria now that you are not afraid of all those “are you really eating this croissant and pain au chocolat?” looks every time you eat outside. Glowing up! Ozi works? Apparently, it does, or you wouldn’t be looking for cute fall breakfast outfits right now.

Or is it because you are staying at the 5* hotel and taking the guesswork in dressing up the breakfast dress code? Or do you feel pyjamas just don’t look cute with a lavish breakfast outside the bed? By the way, you can’t wear pyjamas to a hotel/restaurant/cafeteria breakfast. Again, there is a breakfast dress code. Ps. You can find the breakfast dress code guide in the DRESS CODE DECODED (paid subscription only – so upgrade to paid). It’s a must-read before you leave for your autumn holidays – especially if you are heading to Vienna, Munich or Paris.

THE BEST FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS 2025

Btw, I normally eat at 9 am – starting my day with fruit, a green smoothie, bread (in all shapes and variations – think Käsebreze, cheese loaf, Semmel, cute Brötchen – name it, I will love it), and a boiled egg – preferably served in the garden. I just don’t get the breakfast in bed. Do you get out of bed, brush your teeth and then go back to bed to eat yourbreakfast? Sounds so complicated and messy. I want things to be easy and straightforward – hence all the links for you to shop my looks with merely two to three clicks. The collages and product galleries are hyperlinked and shoppable.

Pov, I normally point you to the exact store where I bought that item. Unless it’s sold out in that online store or if I find all the items that make the outfit in one store. I am doing my best to help you lower the shipping costs and carbon footprint.

To find out more about the garments (size, fit, where I bought it), subscribe to Brunette from Wall Street Substack. I’m sharing this info with free subscribers, too.

But you know that already. Now, let us finally look at what to wear to breakfast in autumn if you are not having your breakfast in bed.

CLASSY FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR HOME BREAKFAST

Breakfast in the garden calls for an upgrade from casual leisure to dark wash jeans, at the very least.

1 STRIPED SHIRT WITH DARK WASH MODERN SKINNY JEANS AND POINTY BALLET FLATS WITH CAMEL CABLE KNIT SWEATER

Imagine waking up naturally as the gentle autumnal morning light sun caresses your face through whisper-thin curtains (pov I have to imagine this part too as I wake up in the middle of the night – everyday and I removed the curtains altogether, but I wake up naturally so we are good to go), you find yourself slowly drifting into consciousness. But still, these late October mornings – there’s something utterly magical about them, isn’t there?

I love the way the light falls into my bedroom just before I leave the room to hit the bathroom. It falls differently, more golden, more precious somehow. You can already tell it’s going to be one of those perfect, crisp days that make you fall in love with fall all over again.

Anyway, back to the plot. You leave the room and step into the marble-floored bathroom. The shower feels like standing in a warm autumn rain, and you take your time with that heavenly jasmine-bergamot body wash that makes you feel like you’re in a French garden. There’s something so indulgent about taking your time with your morning routine, isn’t there?

The mint toothpaste tastes especially fresh today, and you smile at your reflection, already anticipating the morning ahead as you enter your dressing room.

You grab your capsule home outfit – the striped shirt and A.PC.Paris dark wash jeans – modern skinny jeans with a wide hem. The wide hem adds just that touch of sophistication that makes them feel modern. You swap slippers for pointed ballet flats in the most perfect shade of tobacco brown? No! You don’t have them. But you have those precious Aquazzura flats with a chain and mesh – not old money, but so chic and trendy. They’re practically begging to be worn.

Before heading out, you open your knitwear drawer and reach for that sublime cable knit camel sweater. The wool is so tangible between your fingers as you drape it elegantly over your shoulders, tying it with nonchalance. Pov, it will most likely untie before you get outside.

The morning air kisses your cheeks with just the slightest chill as enter the upper garden and sit at the little breakfast table. The fig leaves above are starting to turn the most magnificent shades of amber and gold, and a few early achievers drift down around you like nature’s confetti.

But the real star of this morning? That heavenly croissant from the little bakery down the lane (actually, I had to go to the city to get mine – they don’t have croissants like this in our town). Just looking at it makes your heart sing – all golden and flaky with dozens of buttery layers. Breaking it open is pure poetry – I’m obsessed with that sound. Ps. Make sure you have your sound on as you watch the video below.

Anyway, where were we. Oh, at the butter and jam – homemade, obviously (comment for the recipe). You take your time spreading the butter, and covering it with a thin layer of jam. Pov, not thin at all. But it doesn’t have a lot of sugar, and it tastes so good.

Even so it’s sugar, and you feel you need something healthy next. You still have an apple untouched on your plate. But no one brought a fruit knife. How are you supposed to eat an apple now? I guess we will have to move down to a more healthy breakfast at the club.

After you watch the video and shop for the look, of course.

BLACK TURTLENECK TOP WITH HOUNDSTOOTH PRINT SLIM FIT PANTS AND POINTY FLATS

Or channel your inner Audrey Hepburn with a classic fall breakfast attire perfect for a dainty breakfast at home. A black turtleneck top with printed pants is a chic old Holywood fall outfit you can easily copy being a girlie lured in the casual boujee aesthetic. For a touch of modern flair, consider pointy flat mules.

CHIC FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR BREAKFAST ON THE GO

Now, if we are practical, which we normally are, we dress for the day and go.

CARDIGAN SET WITH BLACK VEGAN LEATHER PANTS AND FLATS

Soft cardigans and knitted tops are perfect options to carry you seamlessly from home to real-life events. Put the ease back into everyday dressing with a pretty cardigan set and faux leather pants.

As you can see, any cardigan set will work with the autumnal background.

BLACK SHORT SLEEVE SWEATER AND SKINNY JEANS WITH MODERN HEM AND FLATS AND A HEADBAND

Look to icons like dark wash skinny jeans (but with a modern hem!) for a streamlined approach that still makes a chic statement. Balance skinny silhouette with flats and black turtleneck for a fresh take on a capsule breakfast outfit. Accessorise with a headband in navy blue or brown.

Btw I could easily crown this outfit for my uniform.

POMEGRANATE SILK BLOUSE WITH DARK WASH SKINNY JEANS WITH WIDE HEM AND POINTY FLAT MULES

Yes, these are the same jeans as those above – I’m only presenting you with a new point of view.

Chic and opulent, pomegranate (or burgundy, cherry red) is autumn’s most enthralling shade. From ruffles to light fabric that can easily be layered with trendy barn jackets once it gets colder, a pomegranate blouse will keep all eyes on you.

OLD MONEY FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR BREAKFAST AT THE CLUB

Be ready for any change in weather with versatile pieces as you head downtown to your clubhouse or drive to your countryside club to get a healthier version of breakfast.

Cardigans and tweed jackets are designed to be thrown over striped shirts and work equally well paired with mini skirts and wide-leg pants.

STRIPED CARDIGAN AND NAVY BLUE PUDDLE PANTS WITH BALLET FLATS AND A HEADBAND

Maximise on the appeal of feminine fun with a striped cardigan and flats. Like a delicious cake complemented by a headband, this cute fall breakfast outfit is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth when ordering a green smoothie and a kale bar.

Chanel some old-fashioned romance in a striped cardigan. There is something unfailingly elegant in a cardigan over a striped shirt paired with trousers and metallic flats, which suggests a confident approach to style. As a bonus, they are also more practical as we step into the coldest season.

WHITE CABLE KNIT CARDIGAN ON STRIPED SHIRT AND TWEED SHORTS WITH POINTY BALLET FLATS AND HEADBAND

This season, embrace the boujee approach to dressing up. Stripes and tweed set the scene for mornings at the country club, whilst cable knit cardigans and pointy flats exude the preppy spirit of the old money aesthetic.

CUTE FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR BREAKFAST DATE IN FALL

Designed for moments when you want to look super cute, level up this season with ruffles and immaculate tailoring.

NAVY BLUE SHORT SUIT WITH RUFFLED PINK BLOUSE AND A LEATHER BRAIDED HEADBAND AND YELLOW BOOTIES

Take the fuss of dressing for fall breakfast with a ruffled blouse and short suit. A blouse in pink with an ornate finish around the neck is a great way to add interest to your fall breakfast outfit.

Whether it is in the cutest shade of pink or cleverly embellished around the neck, simply pair it with tailored navy shorts and layer with a matching blazer, and you will be out the door in five minutes. What are you waiting for?

Oh, the booties. Well, these are easy to pull on. Made of butter leather and with a zip that stretches from the sole to the top (they open all the way), they are destined to become your favourite pair.

DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER ON BOW BLOUSE AND WIDE-LEG PANTS WITH POINTY BALLET FLATS

Go for boujee necklines that bring a cute attitude. Wide-leg pantsuits show off for the occasion and work perfectly when you are looking for a cute breakfast outfit for breakfast with the girlies or a powersuit for business breakfast.

STYLISH FALL BUSINESS BREAKFAST OUTFITS

Admittedly, putting together a spring business breakfast outfit for you without having more details was challenging. But I guess your standard dress code is business smart/chic, which allows for colourful and mismatched suits but no knitwear or anything cosy and warm.

Anyway, by the breakfast dress code guide we are allowed to go one level down the dress code for a business breakfast.

Point of view, they are taking you out of the boardroom for breakfast to make things slightly more relaxed and informal. Emphasis on slightly, of course.

Therefore, combining the business smart/chic and standard breakfast dress code that calls for flats instead of heels, here is one more fall business breakfast outfit that I want to show you. Ps. Make sure you upgrade your subscription to get your copy of the breakfast dress code guide.

10 OVERSIZED NAVY BLAZER ON A BOHO TURTLENECK TOP AND WIDE-LEG CAMEL PANTS WITH POINTY FLATS

Confidence will stride alongside you when wearing this fall business breakfast outfit as you enter the bustling room. The morning light will catch the intricate details of your new blazer, and the soft sheen of its velvet lapels will whisper elegance. Think “ornate finish” around your neck, adding a touch of boho to your power attire.

The oversized tailored fit, will ensure a polished and refined take on boho 3.0 trend, creating a look that’s both powerful and cool.

For comfort that doesn’t compromise on style, step into pointy flats. I’m wearing ballerinas that are so easy to walk in and so precious with that pineapple lucky charm on the bottom of their soles. Besides, their sleek design complements the clean lines of this business breakfast outfit, ensuring a cohesive and well-rounded boho 3.0 aesthetic.

You can finish the look with a top handle handbag in black that will rest beside you, as you eat that flaky chocolate croissant. Btw is it just me, or do you hate stand-breakfasts, too?

I always feel someone will spill coffee on my shoes.

FASHIONABLE FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR BREAKFAST IN THE CAFETERIA

Take home the prize for being the best dressed wherever you go. Pomegranate hues, trendy leopard print and feathers will be the star of the show, made to shine under the spotlight as you eat your soft-boiled egg.

11 RED SWEATER WITH WIDE-LEG PANTS AND POINTY FLATS WITH A LEOPARD PRINT HEADBAND

Whether it is bright red or in pomegranate, make it chic with wide-leg pants and pointy flats. *For that extra special that will make this fall breakfast outfit fashionable like no other – accessories with a leopard headband.

Channel boho 3.0 in 70s style wide-leg jeans and a bow blouse, perfectly styled with some feathers. From a feather scarf to wedged sneakers, the latest trends provide the perfect finishing touch.

13 CAMEL CROPPED CARDIGAN ON NAVY BLUE POLO KNIT TOP AND NAVY BLUE BAGGY JEANS WITH POINTY MESH BALLET FLATS AND KHAKI LEATHER HEADBAND

Bold and statement, a polo shirt and baggy jeans are a style shortcut to the best breakfast date ever. Girlies will drop their jaws as you enter the cafeteria. Layer with a cropped cape cardigan for warmth. It’s always super cold in the newly opened cafeterias.

The final touch? Pointy mesh ballet flats and a leather headband that say you take fashion seriously, but breakfast dates with your best friends even more seriously.

And they do drop their jaws, the girlies, as you enter ** – the city’s newest it-spot. The morning light streams through floor-to-ceiling windows, making your cheeks catch and reflect subtle gleams. You wish you have met somewhere else. While the concrete walls are softened by blonde wood panels, and oversized ceramic pendant lights hanging at varying lengths, and custom-made oak tables that somehow manage to look both raw and refined, you find the place too generic.

You walk to your table (you are late again and the girlies are most likely drinking their second cup of matcha latte already), and before you even sit down, one of the girlies shouts “This outfit is exactly what I’m putting in my fall trend report.”

As your matcha latte arrives in handmade ceramic mugs (you cringe – because ceramic instead of porcelain – btw I have this porcelain mug you simply must buy – it will make an excellent Christmas gift), the conversation turns to fall plans. You are leaving for the spa tomorrow. Three days of full relaxation. But what then?

Your November feels empty in the most luxurious way. You need a city break, somewhere with that perfect mix of culture and shopping. You still have the Gucci mascara problem – you need to buy a new one, but Milan is out of the question as you don’t want to bump into your ex.

“What about Vienna?” girlies suggest, breaking their Viennoiseries. “The Gucci store on Kohlmarkt might have it. And October in Vienna…” she trails off dreamily, “all those coffee houses and Klimts.”

You pause, croissant midway to your lips (they get them from that tiny bakery that supplies all the top hotels). Vienna. No, they don’t hold makeup, but who cares, you can already taste die Sachertorte in your mouth.

“Plus,” girlies add, the Christmas markets are opening. It’s supposed to be spectacular this year.”

The sunlight catches the cains on your ballet flats (btw you will have to add the chain to your ballet flats to make them look exactly like mine – or go for a W and get the ballet flats in the product gallery below) as you cross your legs, considering.

Your phone is in your hand before you realize it, ready to search for flights. Some decisions, after all, make themselves.

BOUJEE FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR HOTEL BREAKFAST

We all want to wear looks that deliver without trying too much early in the morning. Especially when we travel and stay at a luxurious 5* hotel. Earn your title as the best dressed hotel guest in a boujee fall breakfast attire.

14 SHORT POMEGRANATE DRESS WITH POINTY FLAT MULES AND A HEADBAND

Imagine waking up at the Ritz. The morning light plays differently here in Vienna – the crystal chandeliers catch it just so, creating a symphony of sparkles on the ceiling of your suite. The heavy silk curtains in that perfect shade of cream create the most flattering morning glow as you make your way across herringbone parquet floors to the marble bathroom.

After a shower scented with your signature perfume (pov Ritz or not, you bring your own shower gel), and washing your teeth, putting on makeup – you need to look decent for breakfast, you put on a dress. The red dress – in that sublime shade of pomegranate that seems to capture both Viennese elegance and Parisian insouciance – falls perfectly just above your knees. Pov, it’s quite short actually. But its cut is architectural enough to be presentable for the dress code.

You style it with a matching headband and Malone Souliers mules – as comfortable as hotel slippers.

The corridor to the breakfast room feels like walking through a living museum of European glamour – all gilt mirrors and crystal sconces. The maître d’ welcomes you and takes you to your table.

Your table – positioned perfectly between an ornate gilded mirror and one of the floor-to-ceiling windows draped in heavy silk damask. From here, you could observe the gentle ballet of white-gloved waiters moving between tables, their movements as precisely choreographed as a Viennese waltz.

But you are too hungry to think about anything else but food.

Surely, you notice the table setting. Everything is placed with mathematical precision on the damask tablecloth. The porcelain has that particular translucent quality (btw you can check the quality of the porcelain you have at home by lifting it against the source of light and waving with a hand in between the light and porcelain – you should see your hand through the porcelain).

Your breakfast arrives on a silver tiered stand – a tradition this hotel has maintained since the days when Europe’s nobility made it their second home. The little Semmels, still warm from the oven, have that perfect golden crust that only Viennese bakers seem to achieve. You break it open, releasing a puff of steam that carries the scent into your nose. The butter, shaped into delicate rosettes, melts ever so slightly as you spread it on the bread.

The selection of salamis is fine and the cheese is ok, but you set your eyes on the jam. So typical of you.

15 MOCK NECK CABLE KNIT CAMEL SWEATER WITH MINI FLOUNCE SKIRT AND POINTY DESIGNER SLIPPERS WITH A HEADBAND

For your spa vacation you will want to wear something cosy from the moment you wake up. But forget about sweats and wrap in a cable knit sweater instead. Paired with a mini skirt and designer slippers, you will feel like at home.

Visualise this: You’re curled up on the cognac leather sofa in your Alpine Suite, surrounded by the warm glow of pine-scented candles that flicker against the wood-paneled walls. The panoramic windows frame the misty Bernese Alps like a living painting, while a cashmere throw draped over the sofa’s arm adds an extra layer of cozy comfort as you finish the last lines in your journal.

You finally set down your pen, put on Malone Souliers flat mules and head downstairs for breakfast.

*If you haven’t figured it out yet, you are at Gstaad Palace. Carved wooden ceiling beams arch overhead, while windows stretch almost two stories high, dividing the mountain panorama into a series of living paintings.

You choose a corner banquette upholstered in butter-soft leather the color of chestnuts, positioned perfectly to take in boththe room’s grandeur and the southwest-facing view. The Saanen valley unfolds dramatically, with the Wispile and Eggli peaks rising majestically against the autumn sky. The morning mist clings to the lower slopes, green pines and traditional chalets, while occasional breaks in the clouds reveal glimpses of the Diablerets glacier glinting in the distance. Pov, you don’t really see it, but you let your imagination play as you wait for Züpfe.

You actually don’t feel hunger, but who can resist the warm Zopf bread with its glossy braided top practically glowing under the crystal chandeliers. You break it open, releasing a puff of steam that hits your face. You play with the butter, shape it like small Alpine peaks before you let it melts ever so slightly as you spread it across the bread.

Wait, is there cheese? Local cheeses, aged in nearby mountain caves, sit at perfect temperature on wooden boards. There’s Gruyère, of course, but also smaller-batch alpine cheeses. At your request, they bring your favourites and thinly sliced local air-dried meats, arranged in delicate rosettes on hand-painted porcelain.

Your tea arrives in an antique silver pot, kept warm by a hand-knitted wool. You picked the mountain flower tea today – a blend of hand-picked Alpine herbs, gentian flowers, and edelweiss. The aroma is subtle yet transporting: sweet notes of Alpine roses mingle with the Mountain Avens, all gathered from the surrounding peaks. It feels cosy – just like your sweater.

SIMPLE FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS WITH A DRESS

But maybe you will seize your fall holidays to escape the gloomy weather and go somewhere where it’s still (already) summer.

16 OVERSIZE BLAZER ON ORANGE MINI DRESS AND POINTY FLATS

You don’t have to give up the fun of shorter hems just because Christmas is around the corner. Change the scenery or layer with an oversized blazer.

An oversized blazer lets you flaunt your summer tan with bare legs and makes your favourite summer dress look equally chic styled with knee boots come December.

Oversized blazers are the perfect item to throw on top of short summer dresses when days start turning chilly. With a structured silhouette, padded shoulders and in deep rich tones, they will make an easy transition into your autumn wardrobe.

FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS WITH A SKIRT

Get lost in the intricate swirls of soft fabric with designs that mesmerize. Try a halterneck top with a mini A-style skirt, or indulge in the romance of an oversized 80s style blazer layered over your new midi. For a sensual touch, why not pair it with fancy flats?

17 KNIT HALTER NECK TOP UNDER AN OVERSIZED BLAZER WITH MIDI SKIRT AND FLATS

September in Ljubljana greets me with a gentle rain as I make my way to Kavarna Union for breakfast. The city wears a glistening sheen, and the cobblestone streets seem to shimmer with each raindrop that falls. I clutch my umbrella, as I approach the charming café.

Closing my umbrella, we step into the warm and inviting Kavarna Union. The café is quiet and elegant, with its wooden tables and the soft glow of vintage chandeliers giving a Viennese charm. The scent of freshly brewed coffee envelops the space, making me sick every time.

My outfit exudes a subtle sophistication, blending modern style with classic elegance. A halterneck knit top and a Sandro Paris oversized blazer over it, creating a look that’s both chic and effortless.

The black open-knit midi skirt sways with each step. And Malone Souliers flat mules make sure I can walk quietly. Pov, it’s always super quiet in Kavarna Union.

CASUAL FALL BREAKFAST OUTFITS FOR HOME BREAKFAST

After weeks of travels and hotel breakfasts, I know you will want nothing but tea on your sofa until you return mentally.

Surely, you will want to keep your spirits high with carefully selected fits that are equally cosy and chic. Why stay in pyjamas or opt for sweats when you can lean into a day in slim-fit pants that are as comfortable as leggings but giving Audrey Hepburn so effortlessly?

18 MOHAIR CAMEL CREWNECK SWEATER WITH BLACK LEGGINGS

Stay comfortable and look radiant as you sip your tea (pov I’m drinking tea I brought back from the mountains) in a mohair crewneck sweater and black leggings (slim fit pants that are as comfortable as leggings but more presentable). Fluffy fabrics and oversized fit make the knit an ideal option for the weekend.
