Sweater weather at the office. You know what I mean. Especially if you are just like me always feeling cold not to say freezing and want to snuggle in a soft, warm sweater. But can you wear a sweater at the office and look dressed up to the business code? Bien sûr! You just need to dress your pullover up for work.

DRESSED FOR THE WINTER AT THE OFFICE

Winter at the office can be as hard as the one outside. You know what I mean. The optimal 21 ℃ is not that optimal for everyone. Especially when everyone is leaving the doors opened behind, and the cold is coming all the way to your desk. Besides, there’s always someone at the office, usually an old lady few days apart from the retirement, who will open the windows and be turning off the heating system. Or your company is just saving and doesn’t care if you can’t actually work because you are freezing.

So what to do then? Well, you can bring your own heating device to the office and hid it under your desk or sneak in the boiler room and change the settings. But the chances you get spotted are high. Moreover, if you are the boss lady trying to save on heating, this is out of the option anyway. What is left to you is to layer up. Or even better sweater up.

HOW TO DRESS UP SWEATER FOR WORK

Yes, you can wear a sweater at the office even if you work in a company that has a business code. And no, wearing a sweater at the office doesn’t necessarily mean you will be dressed business casual. Talking about business women only!

Surely a sweater does downgrade a formal business look and puts it in between the business formal and business casual. But if you dress up your jumper you can wear it not only at the office but to any business meeting too. And believe it or not, it really is as easy as it sounds. All you need is the right sweater. Check the EDIT above to see what I mean.

But before I tell you more about that right sweater is and how to dress it up for work, few words about this formal business outfit that I’m wearing here.

SHOP AND WEAR MY CAMEL CABLE PULLOVER FOR WORK

You have probably recognized all of the clothes I’m wearing this time. You have seen me wearing all of these on my Instagram quite often since October. This wool sweater and this wool coat are such a great transitional pieces.

Surely you know this coat so well I don’t even need to tell where I got it. Yes, it’s from Weekend Maxmara, and no it’s not back in stock yet. You can shop a similar coat only in camel here.

I’m wearing camel cable knit pullover from Max Mara. Since you last seen me in this sweater, you know with the vinyl pants over here, this sweater got sold out. But I did find a similar camel cable knit pullover from Max Mara for you though. You can shop it here.

I styled my sweater with my favourite boyfriend blazer. Yes, the one I always wear (last time with a black floral shirt dress in the post about 5 Friday outfits over here).

As it goes for the pants. I’m wearing just some Tom Ford black slacks you can shop here.

The black ankle sock boots that I’m wearing here are from Elena Iachi, and you can shop them here. I know, finally something in stock, right? These ones are a must buy, believe me. Ps. If you are not convinced yet, then be sure to check how I wear them with a skirt suit here.

I finished this business outfit with blue Forzieri gloves and my business bag, a large Selma tote bag from Michael Kors. You can get this bag here. Ps. I also carry this bag when I travel. As I wrote in my What to wear to the Airport Guide, this bag is just perfect on the go.

WHAT SWEATER TO WEAR AT THE OFFICE

In short, the only thing you need to know when it comes on how to dress up sweater for office is not how to style your sweater but what sweater to wear. Styling a sweater for office is not difficult at all, especially not once you take a look at the EDIT – my fashion cheat sheet at the bottom of this post.

The real struggle here is what sweater to wear at the office. In brief, nothing too long, multicolored and too thick. The bigger, the colourful and thicker your sweater will be, the less professional you will look. You can wear a sweater and keep it in between the business formal and business casual as long as your sweater is simple and made of wool or cashmere. Yes, the wool and the cashmere are important when it comes to the wearing a sweater for work. And no, not only because of the temperatures and sweating.

LADY BOSS SNUGGLES IN CABLE KNIT SWEATER

Surely, you have figured it out what your business sweater should be already. I mean, it’s quite obvious. I wouldn’t add these photos if the classic camel cable knit pullover wasn’t one of the sweaters you can wear for work. However, a simple cable knit sweater in the classic camel is not your only option. Another great option is also a thin turtleneck in black, or a turtleneck cable knit in white. Like the one, I wore here. Remember with the mini tweed skirt and sock boots.

Anyway, it’s not only the style of the sweater that matters. The colour matters too. Actually, it’s even more important than the thickness of the thread.

BUSINESS FORMAL LOOK

The sweater you can wear for work this winter should be either a thin turtleneck or a simple cable knit sweater. Either way, it should be in black, white, grey, dark blue or classic camel when dressing business formal.

BUSINESS CASUAL PULLOVERS

You can wear more colours when going for a business casual look. Yet, go for monochrome knits. The red, pink or greenery pullovers would be just perfect. Even the color of the 2018 ultra violet.

Find my favourite sweaters in the widgets above. Remember, to click on the sweater you like and a link will take you to the store where you can buy it.

6 TIMES SWEATER AT THE OFFICE AND 6 BUSINESS OUTFITS

Finally, more on how to dress up sweater for work. Wear your heavy knits, like I did, under a chic boyfriend blazer. When you opt for something lighter, wear it under a tailored blazer. Saint Laurent will be the best choice. As it goes for the oversized jumpers wear them alone with tailored pants. Just like Mrs Beckham would do. You can also style your pullover with the midi skirt. Pleated if you are dressing business casual or pencil if you are dressing slightly more formal.

Ps. Don’t forget to pin, print and share this EDIT. I’m sure your coworkers would love to see it too. And, yes, this EDIT is shoppable too. Just click on any item from this set that you like, and a link will take you to the store.
