“Cargo pants aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.” is probably the second most repeated sentence of the week. And it’s legit. Fashion trend forecasts and market research show that cargo pants won’t go out of style as quickly as we first thought. So line up your fancy shoes and put on your cargo pants now. Here is how to style your favourite cargo pants for spring. Wearing beige colours.

Yes, as you read in the introduction cargo pants or utility pants as some like to name those rather ugly chinos with big pockets, aren’t going out of fashion any time soon.
Apparently, there is more into this fashion trend than just a need to look fashionable and stylish. According to one study (published here), there are psychological reasons why everyone chic wears cargo pants now. Moreover cargo pants aren’t following the usual trickle-down pattern of a trend cycle.
Meaning, cargo pants are here to stay a bit longer than supposed to. So again, line up your heels because you will need them.
WHY THE HEELS? – IS THIS THE MOST FASHIONABLE WAY TO WEAR CARGO PANTS IN 2020?
Surely you know why the heels, right? I wrote about this over here.
Undoubtedly, cargo pants look best when styled with heels. Especially if you don’t want to look sloppy when wearing cargo pants. Or giving an impression that you just came from the construction site.
Not that there is anything wrong about working at the construction site, but since you haven’t swapped your bucket hat for a helmet yet, you shouldn’t swap heels for combat boots and sneakers either. At least not when wearing utility pants. Ps. You can swap pumps for square toe boots though. Check here to see how I do it.
Anyway, back to how to style cargo pants for spring 2020. As said, we are wearing heels with cargo pants this season. And not just the classic pumps. But all the fancy heels we have in our closet. Including my currently favourite party/date shoes, the mules.
Yes, the Malone Souliers mules. Ha, I see your face now. You are thinking about what colour to pick first, right? Well, my first choice is somewhere in between the naturals and pastels. You know, to add a little shimmer to my ugly khaki cargo pants.
Besides wearing all natural colours is the most stylish fashion trend for spring 2020. And these colours that I’m wearing today are a great mix of SS20 natural, neutral and pastel color pallets.
SHOP AND WEAR MY STYLE
Now something for all of you who don’t have a pair of Malone Souliers mules or anything in naturals that you could wear with your cargo pants in your closets yet. Click on the items you see in the collage and widget below to shop all the things I’m wearing with my cargo pants. But don’t forget to buy the cargo pants first.
Also don’t forget to save, pin and print this fashion cheat sheet. Afterall you will need it to remind you how to style your new utility pants in months to come. Yes, you could wear this same outfit 12 months from now and claim yourself fashionable. PFW confirmed! Ps. You will see what I mean in my Paris Fashion Week recap soon!
Anyway, here is more about this beige spring outfit I’m wearing today.
My cargo pants come from Closet. Unfortunately already sold out. I told you, cargo pants are IT pants of the season, and no one chic leaves the store without getting at least one pair of these ugly pants.
Whatsoever, you can shop similar khaki cargo pants over here. You can also get a pair of utility pants here. Just don’t wear those to the construction site. I can’t guarantee you they won’t tear apart.
No, you haven’t seen this Mango cable knit sweater before. It’s new. And you can shop it here.
It looks similar to my Max Mara sweater (last seen here with vinyl pants – yes I keep wearing camel sweaters with edgy pants) but with the eclipse blue trim. Yes, that is the only reason why I would get a Mango sweater with such a bad composition. Clearly not the best choice for warm spring days. But still, the blue trimming is worthy of the sweat.
Ps. If you are looking for a legit beige wool & cashmere sweater with a dark blue almost black trim, go here. It doesn’t have cable knits, but I love that Marni sweater anyways. Honestly, I wish I have seen it before getting this Mango sweater that I’m wearing today.
You know this coat already since it has been my staple for seasons now. Again, it’s Weekend Maxmara, and you can get a slightly shorter, yet even better for spring than mine, version of Max Mara coat over here.
Why the gloves? First, because I’m browsing through the dusty pages of old books and second because these blue leather gloves match the trim of the sweater. You know, it’s all in the details. And when you are wearing something as ugly and edgy as cargo pants, those little details matter. It’s what makes you look stylish instead of sloppy.
MAKEUP AND HAIR
Lastly the makeup and hair. Only one word: hairspray! If you get bangs, you should get hairspray too. I used this one today. Honestly, I was quite surprised to see what happened to my fringe when the wind blew right into my face. Not bad, right? I told you getting bangs isn’t irreversible. Anyway, go here to read more about my bangs.
As it goes to the makeup, I’m wearing my everyday makeup. Again you can shop all the makeup I used by clicking on the items in the widget and makeup cheat sheet.
MORE SPRING STYLES AND TRENDS TO KNOW
This is it about cargo pants. For today! I told you, cargo pants are here to stay, and I still have a bunch of autumnal cargo pants outfits to show you. Coming next cargo pants with plexi shoes! By the way, how happy are you to learn that utility pants will stay in fashion for longer than we first thought?
