Seriously this floral silk blouse I claimed as the most fashionable top of the last season is still in fashion. The only thing different now is its name. No, we don’t call it a Victorian blouse anymore. Meet Ms Prairie blouse. Or is it Prairie shirt? Either way, as long as it’s Prairie!
Unless you have been living under the rock for the last few months, then you probably already know everyone chic is wearing Western, cowboy inspired clothes now. The cowboy boots, long suede skirts and cowboy shirts. But also a more romantic and feminine Western garments like the Prairie dress and guess what? The Prairie blouse.

WHAT IS A PRAIRIE BLOUSE ANYWAY
I know at least one of you (I’m seeing you, sis), is saying WTF* is Prairie blouse right now. So what is a Prairie blouse or Prairie shirt then?
Like a Prairie dress, a Prairie blouse is a bouse that resembles the blouse pioneer women from the 19th century wore at the countryside. They were a simplified version of the fashionable ruffled blouses and dresses women of the upper classes wore in the 1820s. In short, any blouse with flounces, ties and ruffled collar or mock neck.
Browse through the widgets to see different Prairie blouses. Some are more romantic than others. But they all are ruffled and at least slightly puffed. Be sure to go all the way through the widget if you are looking for more budget friendly blouses.
DIDN’T I SAY THIS WAS A VICTORIAN SHIRT A WHILE AGO?
You got me! Yes, I claimed this blouse to be a Victorian shirt in this article over here and to be the IT blouse of the last season. Well, don’t look like that! And moreover, don’t judge me.
This floral blouse that I’m wearing here has many features. The Victorian collar, the currently fashionable wild garden print, and the ruffles and slightly puffed sleeves that are the signature feature of the Prairie blouse.
So yes, this blouse can be either a Victorian shirt or a Prairie blouse. Thinking better, those puff sleeves are quite promising. However not enough to make this blouse an 80s inspired shirt.
But who cares about the 80s. I’m pretty sure there is something about this blouse that will make it fashionable for the next season too. Besides, its too soon to think about that anyway.
Do only thing that matters right now when it comes to the Prairie shirt is how to style it.
HOW TO STYLE THE PRAIRIE BLOUSE
Ps. Be sure to save, pin and print this fashion cheat sheet. Your pin button is in the left bottom corner.
Obviously, there are many ways to style a Prairie shirt. I’m showing you the most casual one today. It is Friday after all. And I’m still out and about in the city right now, before going to the countryside where I’m going to have my first fall picnic tomorrow.
Whatsoever, we are still here, and this is how to wear Prairie blouse casually.
Since Prairie blouse is already full of details and ruffles, you need to keep it simple. Especially if your Prairie blouse has these straps that tie around the waist like a belt, or a bow tie at the back, like my blouse.
In short, don’t think too much and simply put on blue jeans and cowboy boots. And grab a chain shoulder bag on your way. As it goes to your hair, you can keep them down. Just make sure they look sleek and not as messy as mine. And for the makeup, put on earthy eyeshadows like these from Chanel and raspberry lipgloss.
