No, I’m not going to write 20sth things you should learn by your 26-th birthday because I really don’t believe you could get to that points the minute you turn 26. I definitely didn’t come to any new conclusion this Monday, but I do believe a girl becomes wiser in her 20s. Well, at least her picture of the world is less dazed. You know what I mean. No? Mascara and … Wait just check my list.

#20sth THINGS YOU SHOULD LEARN IN YOUR 20s

As you know, I’m celebrating my 20sth birthday this week, and it seems just right to share some of the things I learned so far. That is apart from the fashion of course. By the way, all the fashion lessons I learned so far in the first half of my 20s are coming up later in a separate blog post.

ONE YEAR OLDER, TWO TIMES SMARTER

So I decided to share 20something life lessons I learned so far, and I do believe you should learn in your 20s too. Sooner or later. But you know, sooner is not always better.

But before we head on the list of the #20sth things you should learn somewhen before you grow up for real, a short fashionable getaway.

MY BIRTHDAY OUTFIT

You must have recognized this outfit I’m wearing here, as I also wore it on my birthday picnic in my previous post here. I’m wearing a ruffled mini skirt (shop here) with black sock booties (get them here) and a tweed blazer (similar here). And under the tweed blazer, a romantic ruffled pink blouse (get here). Ha, I just realized this outfit couldn’t fit better the theme of this blog post.

LIFE LESSONS

Anyway back to the life lessons you should somehow learn in your 20s. I’m not saying that these lessons are the life-changing, but they really are. Once you internalize them and start leaving with all these lessons in your mind, life becomes easier. Moreover, you become nonchalant.

LIST OF THINGS YOU SHOULD LEARN IN YOUR 20s

Grab your pencil or simply repin, save and print the graphics with all the lessons written below, and learn these lessons by heart. Ps. The order of the life lessons is random.

#1 DON’T PANIC

Whatever happens, don’t panic. Take a second for thinking and then ACT and solve the problem. Leave panicking for others.

Actually, I learned this when I was 5 when I accidentally set the fire in the bathroom (the plugged-in hairdryer fell down from the hights when I was climbing onto the sink, hey I was 5, and started to burn) and I didn’t even scream. I just took a cloth (don’t know where this idea came from as none taught me what to do in case of a fire) and covered the fire because I didn’t want to watch that ugly thing. So I guess you should know this by now too. But still.

#2 EVERYTHING HAPPENS WITH A GOOD REASON AND CHANGE IS ALWAYS GOOD
#3 UNICORNS ARE REAL

Unicorns are actually your girl friends, your squad who helps you go on when you feel blue.

#4 IT’S TOO LATE FOR SOMETHINGS

It’s like with the first kiss and cigarette. If you haven’t had your first in your teens, then it’s too late for this in your 20s. It will lose that sparkle.

#5 EVEN IF YOU DO SOMETHING DRASTIC YOUR PARENTS WILL STILL LOVE YOU
#6 FREEDOM IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR LIFE

#7 SHARING A SECRET WITH YOUR MOM DOESN’T COUNT
#8 IF YOU DON’T FEEL GOOD ABOUT DOING SOMETHING, DON’T DO IT

That goes for everything. Even for the appointments and flights. If you don’t feel like going anywhere, just call and postpone. But don’t get me wrong. Don’t go with this to your boss when you don’t feel like doing the job you are supposed to (same goes for my team, don’t come to me with this). If you don’t feel doing your job, then it’s time for a change in your career.

#9 ALWAYS BE THE LOUDEST PERSON IN THE ROOM

Being loud is never inappropriate. Regardless the etiquette rules in your head.

#10 NEVER STAY QUIET

Even when you have nothing to say. If so, just ask questions. As long as you are not quiet.

#11 INFORMATION IS A KEY

Ask and remember those silly little things about others. You never know when you will need them. Believe it or not, remembering someone’s favorite colour, where he/she went on vacation two years ago, or a fact someone’s wife ordered light bubbles from China and didn’t like them might be useful to you one day.

#12 ALWAYS BELIEVE TO A GIRL WITH A GOOD HAIR

She is always right. Especially about the diet. Find here what I mean.

#13 NEVER TAKE BEAUTY ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WITH BAD SKIN
#14 SLEEP AT LEAST 8 HOURS A DAY

Stop setting the alarm clock and sleep as long as you need. Ps. Find out how to sleep better here.

#15 ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INTUITION

Intuition is real. But it’s not always easy to recognize. For example, I feel a pain in my chest when I’m in some sort of relationship with the wrong people.

#16 YOU ARE YOUR NUMBER 1 FAN SO ALWAYS TALK BEST ABOUT YOURSELF
#17 THE RIGHT TIME WILL COME or IT WON’T

It really doesn’t matter when some things happen or if they happen at all. The important thing is that you don’t stress yourself.

#18 IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE KEYS

The keys from the doors, and all other sorts of the keys. And yes, this comes from the Kardashians.

#19 DON’T EXPECT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE

Not even your best friends or parents. Or you will be disappointed one day.

#20 ALWAYS CARRY YOUR BUSINESS CARD WITH YOU

And also these 5 things over here. Yes, every lady boss carries these 6 things in her bag.

#21 SUGAR IS BAD AND IT’S EVERYWHERE

Even in the pickles. So you better stop eating now or make your food from the scratch by yourself.

#22 WORKOUT EVERY SINGLE DAY

And when you can’t go to the gym, then walk, walk and walk. It’s important to workout every day. Who knows it might even save your life one day. It certainly did save mine.

#23 LET IT GO – AND THROW IN THE TOWEL IF YOU WANT

Throwing in the towel (vreči puško v koruzo) is not a bad thing. Even when it comes to your studies or career. Believe me, I know well about this. I changed my mind over my studies after two years and let law for economics. And that feeling was worth a million. If you don’t feel the same passion for a thing as you did when everything started, then just let it go and focus on something else. There’s really no point in going on with something you don’t feel is the right thing for you. And no there is nothing wrong with letting things go, even if you have a tendency of changing your mind on every 2 years as I do.

#24 DON’T BE LIKE A SPONGE

Don’t believe everything people say you should do or is good for you. Even when it comes from someone who has achieved all your goals. It’s good to have role models, but this doesn’t mean you should do exactly what they say.

#25 ALL YOU NEED IS A SMILE

Always smile. Especially if you come to some event on your own and you don’t know anyone. And don’t worry about the wrinkles, that’s why the botox is for. Botox is not something bed (well, I don’t know this for sure as I haven’t tried it yet. I guess this will be the life lesson in my 30s.)

#26 DON’T OVERDO YOUR MAKEUP

Less is more. French know this the best.

Fashion Blogger Veronika Lipar of Brunette from Wall Street on 20 something things you should learn in your 20s

#27 DON’T EVER LET ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT YOURSELF
#28 NEVER LEAVE COMPLAINTS ON POST-IT PAPERS

Always say what you have to say to others in person. Especially people you live with. Don’t write them your complaints and demands.

#29 SWEARING IS ACTUALLY GOOD LANGUAGE

Believe it or not, even though you will find some F* words here on my blog to create drama, I don’t swear in real life. But I’m trying to add some swear words into my vocabulary. Because guess what? Smart people swear. And they swear a lot. Times, when swearing was a bad language, is almost forgotten. Now swearing is all about being dominant and powerful. And a lady boss needs to swear from time to time.

Wait, I’m stopping here. I know I left so many lessons unwritten, but hey, I’m not in my 30s yet. Those 20-something life lessons should do for now. By the way, what life lessons you learned in your 20s?

Once again, I want to wish you a Happy Birthday, beautiful! I hope it was everything you wanted it to be, full of fun and some relaxation, because both are equally important 😉 I nodded to all of your life lessons. I recently turned 29 and have discovered these to be true, too. I think the fact that you care enough to learn about others and value the information they share with you goes to show how genuinely caring you are. There have been times I have learned of someone’s birthday when it was too late to wish them or get them something, so I jotted down the date and made sure to do something the following year and have noticed that always makes me people feel so good because they don’t expect you to remember, especially when you’re not that close to them. I also really agree with not doing something if you’re not feeling it. I’ve tried to force the feeling and it’s always given me less than great results, so that’s definitely some wise and sound advice. Thanks for sharing sharing, gorgeous girlie, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

    XO,
