However only this pair of dark blue jeans will pass any corporate dressing code and get the approval of HR ladies. When you dress up your jeans, of course.

Apparently, days, when jeans were a no go for work, are long gone. Nowadays even Anna Wintour would rather see you showing up at her office for a job interview at Vogue in your favourite pair of jeans than an ill-suited suit. You know, the suit you bought especially for that job interview or business meeting and didn’t do you any favour. The suit that didn’t let you be you; powerful and capable of doing business.

CAN I REALLY WEAR JEANS FOR A JOB INTERVIEW?

Whatsoever, the good news is that the business world is more forgiving when it comes to wearing jeans in 2021 than years before. Surely this doesn’t mean you could show up at work or even worse at the job interview wearing ripped blue jeans. Furthermore, walk around the office in, this season’s most fashionable, baggy 80s jeans.

But you can do business and nail any job interview in a pair of straight dark jeans. When that pair of dark jeans fits you perfectly, and you style it as I did here, of course.

I know, I shattered your dreams of walking into the HR office wearing your favourite jeans and getting the job. Still, I’m pretty sure you will get over the idea of doing the job interview in your skinny blue jeans as soon as you take a closer look at my straight dark jeans. Skinny jeans are not OK for a job interview. Besides these jeans will fit you better than your old skinny jeans.

YOU CAN WEAR THESE DARK BLUE JEANS WHEREVER YOU WORK

There is no secret that this pair of dark blue jeans is my favourite pair of all the 30+ jeans that I have. For one, they fit perfectly, and for two this dark indigo hue makes them look chic and not casual at all. Not even when styled with sneakers. Just what you need your jeans to be like if you want to wear them for work or job interview.

Whatsoever, if you want to get that job and be successful at any work interview or business meeting in 2021, you need to dress up your jeans and style them with something smart and businesslike.

Don’t panic! I’m here for you. Showing you exactly how to dress up jeans for a job interview or a business meeting with confident people. DARK BLUE JEANS

Starting with the star of this article, the jeans. These chic dark blue jeans are from A.P.C. Paris (shop here).  They are true to their size, so I’m pretty sure they will fit and suit you perfectly no matter the shape of your body. Skinny or curvy these jeans were made for everybody.

PINK COAT AND BLACK SILKY BLOUSE

Now to the clothes that will help you dress up jeans for the job interview. We are dressing up jeans with a silky black blouse and thin pink wool coat (shop here) this time.

I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who either get really cold or extremely hot when feeling nervous. And a job interview or an important business meeting outside my office would definitely make me feel this way. The only question here is whether I would be freezing or sweating.

Luckily a thin layer of virgin wool and silk solves both problems. Yes, that is why I’m not wearing a blazer this time. But a light wool coat instead. Trust me, this is a far better choice. Unlike a blazer this coat is breathable. Plus it masks the jeans.

This pink coat comes from Harris Wharf London (buy here). You can get it any colour, but get it in pink or red (shop here) if you plan to wear it for a job interview or business meetings.

As it goes to the silk blouse. Mine is from Juicy Couture. I love it especially because of the embellished collar. This way I don’t need any other accessory but a little hairpin in my hair.

Since my black embellished silk blouse is already sold out, I found all these similar blouses for you. See the gallery below. Ps. My favourite is this one here. And also this affordable one here.

ACCESSORIES AND SHOES

When dressing up jeans for work and moreover when dressing up jeans for job interview accessories and shoes play an important part. This time court shoes are a must.

Ps. Better practice your walk and get a comfortable pair of heels. I swear on my blue Gianvito Rossi pumps (shop here) or in black (see here). These pumps give me a confidence boost whenever I need it.

Oh, and get your shoes and accessories in blue or black this time. As you can see I’m also wearing dark blue leather gloves (shop here). Sure, you don’t need to wear gloves to dress up jeans for a work interview, but they do give a nice ladylike touch to this chic outfit. Besides it’s always better to have a nice warm and dry hand when you shake hands with HR people.

With gloves on or not grab a top handle bag. A black Dior saddle bag (shop here) I added to the fashion cheat sheet fits perfectly. Yet it might not be the best choice for a job interview. You know in the eyes of HR people, a girl who wears a luxury bag doesn’t need a job anyways.

Even so, you should know better. If you are an expert in your field and everyone wants to hire you, then wear Dior saddle bag (buy here). You earned it. Ps. Be sure to also check what other bags are in style for 2021.

MAKEUP AND HAIR

There is only one rule when it comes to makeup and hair and job interviews. You should wear makeup and do your hair, but it has to be done in a very subtle and careful way. Only to enhance your natural beauty. No one should know you wear makeup, but everyone should notice that special glow.

You will know exactly what I mean once you put on the same makeup as I’m wearing. Take a look at the makeup cheat sheet below for inspiration.

Be sure to save this collage and share it with your friends as well. Especially to that friend of yours who always overdoes her makeup. Letting her know a little makeup is more than enough for a weekday.
