This time is all about the one piece of clothing you never thought you will see me wearing. Well, neither did I, like ever. The Couture feathered top? Truly I never thought I would be wearing feathers. But here I am now, wearing the it feathered top of the season. And I love it.
FEATHERED FASHION TRENDS
After seeing feathers on almost every fashion show the last two seasons. Furthermore, on the street of the most fashionable cities, I knew it’s a time I finally take that image of an old lady wearing a purple velvet coat trimmed with feathers, out of my mind. Moreover to come up with some stylish and chic way to wear feathers on the street as part of my casual outfit.
I always thought feathers and feathered clothes are either for drunk old ladies or those ladies from the dark corners of the street. You know what I mean. But Miuccia Prada made me change my mind when she trimmed the silk camisole with some fluttering feathers last season. You know that beautiful pink camisole trimmed with feathers. Don’t say you didn’t spot it on your Instagram feed.
FEATHERED DEVIL FROM PRADA
Anyway, when Miuccia Prada sent another feather trimmed collection on the Fall 17 runway, I knew this fluttering fashion trend would be more than promising this season. Also, Chanel, Alberta Ferretti, Emporio Armani, Burberry (Oh that feather collar detail layered lace capelet is just a dream), Huishan Zhang, Mark Fast, all confirmed this trend would be huge.
So this was more than enough for me to get some feathers and try this trend in real life, on the street. After all, I don’t need Zara’s approval to wear couture piece on the street.
HOW TO WEAR FEATHERS ON THE STREET
Finally, how to wear a couture piece like feathers on the street? As said, I’m wearing feathers for the first time. So I’m taking baby steps with this fashion trend.
First things first, before wrapping yourself in feathers make sure you get feathers that come in neutral colour. As I did. I got my feather boa, no this is not an actual feathered trimmed top, but just the camisole you saw me wearing so many times before, and a feather boa that I pinned on the cami, but more about this later. Anyway, what I was saying. I got my feather boa in a light blue, almost grey colour. As it’s neutral and I know I will be able to wear with so many different things. Including with the fashionable grey blazer (another it piece of the fall 17) at the office.
FEATHERS CAN BE CASUAL TOO
Once you get a feathered top, or a feather boa that you will pin on your top, in the right colour, simply style it with some chic jeans and a blazer. Yes, it’s really that simple. You do know that jeans can handle it all. Even some fluffy feathers.
Another great chic and a casual option is to wear the feathers with a denim skirt. However, I haven’t tried this look yet, so let’s leave this for another time. After all, we are still babies when it comes to this fashion trend.
SHOP AND WEAR MY STYLE

As said, I’m not wearing an actual feathered top, like the one from Prada, but my favorite silk camisole (the same I wore over here and here, yes, to sleep. It’s cami after all) and a light grey feather boa by NANÀ FIRENZE (shop in the same colour here).
I styled my feather boa with my old dark blue skinny jeans from Diesel (get simillar here) and with chic yet simple white blazer (the one I also wore together with the white pants for a chic yet professional look over here).
Finally, I finished my look with a small black bag and my favourite blue and white sandals from Aquazzura. Undoubtedly, you know these sandals very well, as I have been wearing them all summer long (lastly over here, and here).
Browse through the galleries above to find all the items I’m wearing. Ps. I added similar ones in other colours too. Just in case you decide to wear more fashion trends at the same time. You know what fashion trend I have in mind, right? Yes, the colour clashings.
