So here it is, a little guide on how to dress up for an outdoor party this holiday season. And a few tips on how to dress if you go out to the square to listen to the Christmas chorus before heading to the cider and molded wine with your friends.

In fact, I decided to share an update of this outfit that I wore when I went to the Town Square (Mestni trg) to listen to my favourite Christmas Carols. I must say it was a really cold night, and the humidity was high, but guess what everyone else was freezing but me. Keep reading to find out why.

THE FAUX FUR HAT, WARM COAT AND CHRISTMAS CAROLS

As said, we took these photos right before we walked from the Miklošič Street, all the way to the Town Square to listen to that beautiful Christmas carols. I don’t know about you, but for me, the Christmas time doesn’t start before I get to smell the smell of cinnamon sticks from the mulled wine and hear the first chorus of my favourite Christmas carol on the street.

Anyway, it seemed very cold, and I even spotted few snowflakes falling from the sky when I was leaning on that fence. Well, yes seemed, because truth to be told I wasn’t feeling any cold at all. And I’m the real Frozen Queen all year long. Always cold. Yet not this time. I guess I really got it right with this outfit. Well, I always do. Ever since living in Montreal, no cold could surprise me. I learned my lesson on how to dress up for cold winter days and even more on how to dress up for an outdoor party in a really cruel way. But more about this in my 5 Question – 5 Answers post. That is if you are interested in my Canadian anecdotes, of course.

FAUX FUR HAT

Yes, this hat is new. I just got it the other day. I know it’s not a beret, but guess what? This fur hat is way more fashionable right now. I don’t need to mention how fashionable the (faux) fur is this season, right? And no other hat, not even the beret, would match your teddy bear coat better than a faux fur hat this winter holidays for sure.
Besides this faux fur hat won’t ruin your hairstyle. Sounds stunning, right?

My faux fur hat comes from Barts, and you can get it here for $46.54. Or get another white faux fur hat for only $20.98 here. Or get this luxury hat from Liska here.

ESCADA WOOL COAT

If you follow me on my Instagram, you know this coat already. Yes, it’s the one I wore when I went ice skating on Kongresni Square in Ljubljana. Be sure to check my Insta Story (this story is highlighted, and you can find it in my bio here) to see my figure skating for a first time in a while.

I must mention how much I love this black wool coat from Escada. Honestly, I was quite surprised how warm it is while being so loose at the same time. I guess that fur collar adds to the warmth. You can get this Escada coat on sale at Harrods here or in Escada boutiques.

PINK MINI TWEED SKIRT

To make this chic winter outfit look more festive, I styled my black wool coat, the faux fur hat and over the knee boots with this classic pink mini tweed skirt with glitter threads and gold buttons from Storets. Well, actually it’s a mini skort and not a real skirt. But no one will notice this. But you, when you will feel much warmer than in an ordinary mini tweed skirt. Shop this mini skirt, pardon mini tweed skort here.

SWEATER WEATHER

Obviously, I couldn’t wear anything else but sweater under my wool coat. And no, I’m not wearing an ugly Christmas sweater this time. Afterall, this is a Christmas caroling (read outdoor Christmas party) outfit we are having here. I’m wearing an embellished black sweatshirt. With studs on the sleeves that you can’t really see because it was too cold for me to take off my coat and pose like that. Anyway, you can get a similar knitted sweater over here for $24.22 or a luxury one here.

OTK BOOTS AND ACCESSORIES

I’m finishing my look with my brown Stuart Weitzman Highland over the knee boots (last seen here) and matching leather gloves. Shop my Stuart Weitzman boots here and matching Gucci gloves over here.

HOW TO UPGRADE CHIC CASUAL WINTER LOOK FOR AN NEWYEAR’S EVE OUTDOOR PARTY

Finally, the guide on how to dress up for an outdoor party. Or better say how to upgrade my Christmas carolling outfit for the New Year’s Eve outdoor party.

In short, wear layers of clothes, add glitter, studs and swap your plain suede over the knee boots for velvet, embellished or the fashionable printed otk boots. By the way, the printed over the knee boots will be in fashion in 2018. I mean could you think of any better way to step into the new year more fashionably?

HOW TO DRESS FOR AN OUTDOOR PARTY THIS WINTER HOLIDAY

Before I let you shop my look and updating your winter style for the party, some final tips on how to survive the New Year’s Eve Outdoor Party under the starts.

#1 WEAR LAYERS

Starting with the most important tip, the layers. Wear as many possible layers. The cami, the long sleeve top, the wool sweater or velvet blazer, the coat. Then the thick stockings, wool socks and over the knee boots under your skirt or dress.

#2 WEAR TIGHTS AND WOOL SOCKS

Again, wear tights and socks. Even though no one gets cold in suede over the knee boots, you should wear tights and socks for an outdoor New Year’s Eve party and Christmas caroling. Those wool socks you get from your grandma for Christmas every year should be perfect under your OTK boots.

#3 PUT ON A FUR HAT

Be sure to wear a faux fur hat this year. It’s much warmer than a wool beanie. Plus it won’t ruin your hair.

#4 DON’T FORGET THE DOUBLE GLOVES

Yes, you should wear the double gloves or mittens for the New Year’s Eve outdoor party. In case you haven’t seen the double gloves yet, these gloves look like ordinary leather gloves but have a thick wool lining instead of the silk lining. They tend to be more expensive, but trust me they are worth of it.

#5 ADD SOME GLITTER

As no one will see your gems on hand, and around the neck, go for glitter on your face.

#6 PUT ON OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

Not to say anything else, have a look at the EDIT below. Oh, and don’t forget, you can shop all the items you see in this EDIT by clicking on them. Or find them in the gallery and clicking on them after you realize they are a must buy this season.
