OUTFITS YOU SHOULDN’T WEAR IF YOU ARE FLYING TO EUROPE OR EVEN HOME

Cozy, but sloppy is not how you should look at the airport. Especially not when there are so many outfits that can make you look elegant and sophisticated frequent traveler who knows how to dress to be comfortable no matter how long lasts her flight.

HEELS

Frist comes first. The heels. Not so long ago some almost 30-years old girl from the next village who never wears heels bragged how she wore heels on her flight to London to look fancy and all. True, we all made that mistake. Even me, when I first flew to London at the age of 14. But hey, I was just 14, and there were no fashion bloggers to look up to at the time. Besides, it happened only once. And once too many. Why? Because my legs were swollen and I had a hard time pushing my suitcase in stilettos. Imagine, a skinny little girl in heels and enormous suitcase. No go! Especially not when you have to lift the suitcase.

Anyway, in brief, you shouldn’t wear heels to the airport. Not only you will have problems with managing your baggage; your legs will get swollen up in the air. Wearing high heels to the airport is simply inadequate. Moreover lame and pathetic.

If you really want to get some hights and high heels are the only thing that makes you feel more, you know, beautiful and powerful then wear low chunky heels. Or wedged sneakers like I do. In fact, my Isabel Marant Bobby Sneakers (shop here) are my staple shoes when I travel.

TRACK PANTS – YES? NO?

We all know how it feels sitting hours in tight pants that don’t allow you to stretch at all. Track pants seem much better option when flying across Atlantic, don’t you think? Yet, track pants can make you look so sloppy and common. And you certainly don’t want that, do you? Especially if you wish a special treatment at the airport and later on the plane. You must have heard that rumors about getting a better seat for free just because you look sophisticated. Well, it turns out this is not just a rumor anymore. It happened to me once on my flight from Atlanta to Miami. Fashion god bless my gloves, trench and my staple airport tote!

So are track pants yes or no? Both! Be sure to read and check everything in this post to find out how to wear track pants to the airport.

SKIRTS AND TIGHTS

Surely you want to wear a skirt or a nice dress when you travel somewhere nice. Read to Greece and other beautiful islands. But let’s face it. Skirts and dresses are not practical when dealing with luggage. Unless you wear them with the over the knee boots, you can get a bruise quite easily. Not mentioning ripping your tights or even skirt. Remember the best airport outfit is comfortable yet not easy to tear.

BEST AIRPORT OUTFITS TO WEAR IN 2020

#1 TRENCH COAT AND JEANS

Put on a trench coat, and a silk blouse under the trench coat. If you are very cold, you can wear an oversized blazer under the trench coat. Style your chic trench coat with the tapered blue jeans and wedged sneakers or loafers. Don’t forget gloves and a scarf.

#2 OVERSIZED COAT AND WOOL TRACK PANTS

Who says you can’t wear track pants and look elegant and upper class? Simply style your comfortable wool track pants with an oversized coat and chic flats like point-toe ballerinas or slingback sandals. Wear a thin turtleneck sweater under the coat. And don’t forget the accessories: furry collar, leather gloves, and sunglasses. Yes, big sunglasses, collar, and leather gloves are a must.

As it goes for the bag, wear a large tote with a front flap and elegant top handle. If you need to keep your passport and phone by your hand and not spending time searching for your essentials in your tote bag, then add another bag. The waist bag or belt bag. Not sure what’s the right term, but you know what I mean.

Yes, that fashionable small bag you wear on your waist. Just make sure it’s made of leather or even velvet, but not polyester. You know, that yellow, green and black belt bag we wore as kids to our school trips? In short, you shouldn’t wear that belt bag but one like in the gallery above.
Oh and don’t forget a chic beret and your beauty case.

#3 CAPE, TRACK PANTS, TURTLENECK SWEATER, FUR COLLAR, TOTE AND ANKLE BOOTS WITH CHUNKY HEELS

Flying to Europe? Then wear this! You can’t miss with a cape and a tote. And yes, you can wear it with your track pants. The ones with the tapered legs for a slim fit.

#4 CHUNKY KNITS AND WIDE LEG PANTS

Want to make your grandma happy and wear that cardigan she made just for you? Guess what, chunky and cosy knits are perfect for the long flights. Especially in winter. So why not to wear it now? But wear it right! Best with tailored wide-leg pants. Wool-twill wide leg pants, of course. To make you feel even more comfortable. Finish your look with a furry collar and tote bag. As it goes for the shoes, you can wear anything but stilettos. As said, high heels have nothing to do at the airport.

#5 KNITTED SWEATER, JEANS, AND TAILORED COAT

Alternatively, you can wear your knitted sweater with jeans. But make sure you add some elegant touch to this outfit. A silky blouse and tailored coat should do their work.

#6 PARKA, VELVET SWEATER AND TAILORED PANTS

An excellent choice if you are flying back home to Seattle, Boston, Canada or Northern Europe. But wear your parka with some tailored pants. No, track pants (not even the wide leg track pants) are not a good choice to wear with the parka.

#7 SHEARLING JACKET, KNITTED SWEATER, JEANS AND SLINGBACKS

I already wrote this year is all about the shearling jacket (remember in my Fall Winter Fashion Report here). Not wondering why this is the favorite jacket fashionistas wear to the airport this season. And no not only because it’s fashionable and chic. But mostly warm and cozy. Who doesn’t like that soft feeling around her neck? The best way to wear your double-breasted wool-blend shearling jacket to the airport is with when you style it with a knitted crew neck sweater, mom jeans, and some flats.

Ps. if you are wearing a shearling and leather jacket, then style it with tailored pants.
