Who is on for some celebrity gossip? It’s time we talk about the Emmies. Not about who won the Emmy and who didn’t. But about who wore what on the red carpet. Moreover who was the worst dressed celebrity at the 70th Emmy Awards. Who got paid just to wear a dress that made her look like a neon strawberry on the red carpet, who looked like … You know what, let’s walk down the red carpet.
WHO WAS THE WORST DRESSED AT THE 70th EMMY AWARDS RED CARPET
After having a quick glance at the photos from the 70th Emmy Awards arrivals it looks we will have so much to talk about. I’m still like WTF* were they thinking before putting on these dresses. Money and friendship, I guess. I know I would have never put on a dress like that on below if I hadn’t been friends with the designer. Well thinking better, even then I’m not sure I could ever wear that for the red carpet.
Anyway, the thing is, that there were many bad red carpets looks at the 70th Emmy Awards. Starting with these 80s inspired red carpet looks which Vogue listed among the best looks seen at the 70th Emmy Awards red carpet.
STUNNING ON THE RUNWAY BUT LOSING ITS FABULOUSNESS ON THE RED CARPET
TRACEE ELLIS ROSS in Valentino
Don’t get me wrong, I liked this dress on the runway, but it somehow didn’t work on the red carpet. Perhaps because of the light. And the angles of the shoot.
Surely, the dress itself is fashionable. I mean it’s Valentino. Featuring the 80s fashion trend with this fashionable neon hue and puff sleeves. But in all these photos it doesn’t look like Valentino dress at all. I hate to say this, but it looks like it was actually made in the 80s and brought out from the closet all dusty.
Ps. Go here to find out what else from the 80s is fashionable this season too.
In short, Tracee Ellis reminds me of these dipped strawberries, covered in Greek yoghurt and sprinkles this time.
Nevertheless, I think Tracee Ellis is the only one who can pull off this look. Her beautiful smile and strong personality saved the look.
TOO CUTE TO SLAY THE RED CARPET
AMY SEDARIS in Adam Selman
The dress is lovely and her shoes are amazing. But overall Amy Sedaris looks like a little girl. And this is not a compliment when talking about the red carpet Holywood glamour and Holywood divas.
Chrissy is wearing a fashionable dress. The midi length, the quetzal green (which is as you know one of the most fashionable colours for fall winter 2018/19 – if you didn’t go and check the colour report for AW 18/19 here), the one side shoulder. And the ultra violet sandals. But she turned out to be a fashion victim.
She looks like that chocolate truffle wrapped in green glossy wrapping paper. Not body shaming. But she knows how to rock her curves better.
On top of that she is wearing her bag and shoes in the same colour. Luckily this article about matching bags and shoes isn’t true anymore.
THE CASUAL GLAM
This little black dress is fashionable and sassy, but it’s not a red carpet little black dress. Even though the black pumps elevate this look slightly, much could be done here.
Simply disappointing. I wish Hoda wore something more glamorous. I mean this is Emmy Awards. The dress is nice. But it’s just that. Nice. Nothing more.
DEVIL IN THE DETAILS
TIFFANY HADDISH in Prabal Gurung
Embed from Getty ImagesI must say I was surprised to see Tiffany Haddish listed among best dressed at the 70th Emmy Awards. First because of the rainbow stripes which are not fashionable anymore.
Ps. More about all the prints that are out of style this season is coming up in my Print Trend Report over here.
And secondly, because there was something off with this look. I didn’t know eaxctly what at first. Since these rainbow colours flatter her and her makeup and hair was flawless.
But after taking a closer look I realised I don’t like this red carpet look because of the dress, but because of the shoes. Omg! She wore platform sandals! And on top of that, they are black and shiny.
JONATHAN VAN NESS
What is this under Jonathan’s tux?
SHE LOOKS FIERCE BUT NOT FABULOUS
CONSTANCE WU in Jason Wu
This dress is nice, but Constance’s makeup and hair don’t go well with the dark sequences. And cold shoulders. As little as bronze metallic eyeliner (like the one I’m currently swearing by) would make this look completely different.
But to bring this look from molten to marvellous she would have to let her hair down, dye it in bronze and make some waves. And wear more subtle bronze makeup.
Not saying she should copy Emma Stone, but she would wear it better for sure.
TAN FRANCE in Thom Browne
Again the print and shoe situation. Only with a man and a fashionable print this time. In short, black boots simply don’t go on the red carpet. And most certainly not with this plaid suit.
THE COUCH DRESS
CONNIE BRITTON in Sachin & Babi
Remember the couch dress Kim Kardashian West once wore on the red carpet? Not saying Connie Britton looked as bad in this print dress, but I can’t say this dress does her a favour. Besides, it’s not fashionable for Autumn winter 2018/19 either. And we would prefer to see her in autumnal colours this time. Ps. These colours are not fashionable for Spring Summer 2019 either.
SERIOUSLY THE WORST LOOKS FROM THE RED CARPET
LESLIE JONES in Christian Siriano
You know I love a great pantsuit. Sometimes even for the red carpet. But this suit … is a big no. Flashy, shiny and wide-leg? I can’t even! Especially not under these lights. Seems like no flashy material looked good at the Emmy Awards red carpet this year.
This shiny suit would look much better on Leslie Jones or any other lady if the pants weren’t so loose. All these creases we see on Leslie’s pants diminish this look and make her look bad.
Ps. This is a tip for you too! Never wear flashy, glittery or somehow to shiny wide-leg pants. Or even worse cropped wide-leg pants. If you are going to wear a bold suit, like this, make it look like one with your body.
LAURA DERN in Thom Browne
A big no to this Emmy Awards look. Sorry, Laura but you were the worst dressed at 70th Emmy Awards. There is so much going on with this look. If she had taken off at least one thing, everything would have looked differently.
The question here is what? The pearl necklace, the shirt under the dress, different hair. Or perhaps as little as the cuffs on the shirt? What do you think?
MEGAN MULLALLY in Carolina Herrera
I lost my words. I hate to say this because I like Carolina Herrera’s designs, but this tulip shirt dress from Carolina Herrera is certainly one of the worst dresses from 70th Emmy Awards. The print is awkward. And the green bag makes everything even worse.
Too much of everything. Plus, he is wearing boots on the red carpet. A big no!
Another pantsuit. Think better, the shiny pantsuit Leslie Jones wore is nothing compared to this look. Suzanne Cryer definitely earned the title of the worst dressed at the 70th Emmy Awards in the suit category.
The print, the bodysuit, the shoes and the hair. Everything looks wrong.
If she only wasn’t wearing this deep-plunging bodysuit under the blazer and these horrendous red suede platform pumps. She should have simply button up the blazer and wear it without anything under. And put on some sleek pointy pumps.
Saving the worst dressed at the Emmies for the last? Maybe. And I thought everyone already knew fish nets were out of fashion. Please remember, fishnet tights and biker boots are not for the red carpet. At least not like this.
MORE RED CARPET LOOKS AND MORE WORST DRESSED CELEBRITIES
This is it. For now. I still have some red carpet looks on my radar. And yes, some are equally bad.

Sure, the royal wedding is the old news, but if you are going to some wedding anytime soon, you should definitely check all the worst looks. You don’t want to get fined by the fashion police, do you?
Not that being on the worst dressed list is something horrible. But still we all want to be the best dressed, don’t we? By the way, who was the worst dressed celebrity at the 70th Emmy Awards in your opinion? Do you agree with me? What would you wear for the Emmies?
