Don’t like wearing layered transitional outfits? Guess what neither do I! I hate layering. So why don’t we put on the wool coat and making holes in our jeans instead? Yes, the distressed jeans or ripped jeans, whatever you prefer, are back on the street this spring. And we are wearing them with a classic wool coat, plexi pumps, and dangling belt.
I must admit, finding a Friday outfit to share with you wasn’t that easy this time. I mean we finally have spring in central Europe with the temperatures just close to 20 ℃, while there is still winter in New York. Not mentioning Montreal and Winnipeg. Anyway, looking for a chic, casual Friday outfit, I came up with this look. Wool coat, plexi pumps, and ripped jeans.
And dangling belt to make this outfit even more fashionable. You know this is the only way to wear a belt for spring summer 2018, right? Anyway more about how to style belt this season, a bit later. First, we need to discuss this chic casual transitional outfit I’m wearing today.
NO, WE ARE NOT WEARING LAYERS TODAY
Be honest, do you like wearing several layers of clothes and feeling like an onion? And then carrying all those layers of clothes in your hand once the sun comes out? Because I sure don’t. In fact, I hate layering. Truth to be told the only time I wear layers is when I need to take photos so that I can show you how to do the layering like a fashion blogger. But apart from that, you won’t see me in piles of layers in spring. At least no more than 2 (silk underwear excluded of course).
Sure I can still go with a blazer under a coat, and a blouse and silk cami under the blazer. Yet these are thin layers. Nothing like heavy knits, most likely synthetic thick cardigans with few other synthetic layers. Whatsoever, the point is that I prefer thin layers. Preferably no more than 2 plus a silk cami and underwear.
So how to dress for a cold spring day if you don’t want to wear layers of clothes then? It’s quite easy actually. Just, put on a virgin wool coat, yes it has to be virgin wool, or you will need an extra layer, and make holes in your jeans. Wait, I’m not saying you should tear your jeans. Well, I actually did this (remember here?). Whatsoever, just put on distressed jeans, and you are good to go. Or go for the cape instead. Ps. More about this in my next post here. Be sure to check it out if you are looking for something more elegant or just chic black monochrome outfit you can wear for a day out with your squad.
WE WEARING RIPPED JEANS INSTEAD
As said, instead of wearing layers of clothes you can opt for a lighter version of a chic, casual transitional outfit this Friday. A virgin wool coat and ripped jeans.
By the way, does it seems ages since you wore ripped jeans for you too? It must be because of the long winter. Anyway, now it’s time for you to step into your closet, and take your distressed jeans out.
I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.
Ps. Be sure to check my favorite ripped jeans at the moment in the widget below, in case you can’t find your ripped jeans in your first search. Yes, I know you haven’t done a proper spring cleaning yet. And finding all those spring transitional clothes in your closet can be a legit nightmare these days. Not saying a safari in Europe. You know what I mean. Still, you are not alone in this.
ARE RIPPED JEANS IN STYLE FOR 2018
Oh, in case you were wondering if ripped jeans are still in fashion for spring summer 2018, the answer is … distressed jeans are staples. So yes, ripped jeans are in fashion for spring summer 2018 even though you couldn’t find them on my list of all spring summer 18 fashion trends. That is as long as you wear them in a fashionable way of course. Read with these 2 pieces.
Wait, before we head on to those 2 pieces you should wear your ripped jeans with this spring, we need to take a little stop. I know you keen to know where to shop this chic casual transitional outfit I’m wearing.
SHOP AND WEAR MY STYLE
Be sure to save, print and pin the EDIT, this fashion cheat sheet below to make sure you style your ripped jeans for spring summer 2018 like fashion bloggers do and don’t forget what to wear when you really don’t wear layers of clothes. Also, don’t be b* and share the EDIT with your squad too. Especially with that girlfriend who reminds you of an onion these days.
Ps. See that LIKETtoKNOW.it logo in the EDIT? Well, this only means that you can shop all the items in the EDIT simply by clicking/touching them. A link attached to the item will take you to the store. Well, if this sounds a bit too complicated, check the things in the gallery below the edit. Again, just click on them for a closer look.
THE RIPPED JEANS
Starting with the jeans. I’m wearing Levi’s jeans that I ripped by myself. Still can’t believe I did this. To be noted, making holes in jeans is not that easy at all. Evidently following my tips (check them here) might be easier. Still, I wouldn’t do it again. Especially not when there are so many stunning distressed jeans in the stores. Yes, Levi’s has a pair of distressed jeans that looks just like mine DIY distressed Levi’s in the store now too. Shop them here.
VIRGIN WOOL COAT
Seems like I won’t be taking off this virgin wool coat for a while. Happens to me every year. I have been wearing this Weekend Maxmara coat until May for the last 2 years. Or is it 3? I don’t know really. Whatsoever the good news is that a Maxmara coat is on sale now. Shop it here. Believe me, you need this coat. It’s a lifetime investment. Well perhaps slightly exaggerating, but I’m sure you will wear it for the next 20 years. It’s a classic piece that never goes out of fashion, plus resists everything.
GIANVITO ROSSI PUMPS
I know your eyes are on my pumps. These chic transparent heels come from Gianvito Rossi, and you can shop them here. These beautiful plexi pumps come in several colours. Yet I think this is the colour to go for. Ps. Be sure to click here (and check later, after you finish reading this post) to see how I styled them with other clothes too.
Getting rid of layers doesn’t mean getting rid of accessories this time. Like we would care, right? We love wearing accessories. The problem is that we rarely have time to put them on. Still, I’m wearing only a belt, gloves and a bag. Minimal yet obvious. And the best thing? You can put the belt and gloves into the pockets of your coat and put them on your way.
Oh about this belt. It’s from a Slovenian designer. Old collection. Anyway, I found some other chic belts I’m sure you will love. Check the gallery below.
I wore this outfit for my appointment at the doctor and dentist. So yes, that’s way my lipstick is gone. However, I thought you might want to know what lipstick I wore before. Find it in the widget below.
YOU MUST WEAR RIPPED JEANS WITH WHAT IN 2018?
Now finally to how to how to wear ripped jeans in 2018. As said before, ripped jeans are basic, classic, staple jeans that never go out of fashion. Though you need to style them fashionably. And this season this means with these 2 pieces.
#1 TRANSPARENT SHOES
Especially if you wear the straight leg jeans that are not tapered and end at the ankles. It’s quite obvious my favourite transparent shoes are Gianvito Rossi plexi pumps. Nevertheless, there are other chic transparent shoes worth of wearing out there too.
#2 DANGLING BELT
There is actually only one way to wear a belt this year. To let it dangle. I wrote more about this over here. Anyway, as it goes to the ripped jeans and dangling belts, make sure you chose the right belt. Not every belt will do. I mean it’s not the weekend yet. And this chic casual transitional outfit needs an elegant touch. Which you can’t achieve with any belt. The tip here is to look for shorter belts.
