The only dress you need now? The yellow dress of course. Every fashion gal owns one and wears it too. But how to pull off this chic and bold spring summer 2018 fashion trend when it’s still so cold and dull outside? Like I do this winter!

It seems like this winter won’t go away anytime soon. But you know what? I don’t even care anymore. I decided to take some action and bring spring out on to the streets. Even though only by wearing the IT pieces of spring summer 2018. Starting with the IT dress of the season. The yellow dress.

Yes, the yellow dress is that IT dress for spring summer 2018 every fashion gal has in her closet right now. Waiting for spring blossoms. Or not. Well, I’m definitely not waiting for spring anymore. Nor should you. Guess what? You can start, pardon you should start, wearing your yellow dress now. And here is just the way how.

HOW TO WEAR YELLOW DRESS IN WINTER

I know, walking around in a sheer, thin silky yellow dress when it’s freezing outside seem slightly terrifying. Even for Brunette’s squad who walks around in sandals in the snow these days. Ps. Have you seen how to wear polka dots with sandals for a night out this month, already? Be sure to check it out here.

Anyway, don’t let the cold winter discourage you from wearing your new yellow dress. That dress that every fashion bloggers worship now. There is a way you can wear it on the snowy, cold street, while everyone else is walking around in ski pants. Trust me, as long as you follow my tips, you won’t be cold at all.

#3 THINGS YOU NEED TO WEAR WITH YOUR YELLOW DRESS IN WINTER

So how to wear a yellow dress in winter then? By matching it with something soft and warm of course. I mean there’s no way you could walk around merely in a dress and pretty pumps at the end of February. Afterall it’s freezing outside, and you definitely don’t want to get cold now just before your winter getaway, do you?

Still, it turns out that styling a yellow dress is not that simple at all. You can’t wear it with you black coat for example. Well unless you are from the Beehive. You know what I mean. Even so, not even Queen B would approve of that fashion faux pax.

The way to pull off this bold spring summer 2018 fashion trend before the start of the season, read when everyone else is bundling up in greys and black, is to match it with the right pieces.

Not to say anything else, here is how to wear a yellow dress in winter. And not to freeze while walking around in your mini yellow dress.

WHAT TO WEAR WITH YOUR SHORT YELLOW DRESS SO THAT YOU WON’T FEEL COLD?

I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

#1 COVER IT WITH A PASTEL WOOL COAT

First, comes the coat. I probably don’t even need to mention, you shouldn’t wear your yellow dress with anything black in 2018, do I? So put your dark coats back to the closet. And leave them there until the next winter. The coat you should be wearing right now, especially with the yellow dress comes in light, pastel colors. That is any pastel colour from Spring Summer 2018 colour palette. Ps. In case you forgot which pastel colors are in fashion for SS 2018, you can check the color chart again over here.

However, it’s not only the colour that matters when it comes the outwear you will wear your yellow dress with. The materials matter too. In short, your yellow dress will look best under a soft wool coat. Especially if you go for a silky yellow dress like I did this time.

YOU NEED TO PUT ON THESE WITH YOUR SHORT DRESS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO FREEZE

#2 PUT ON OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

As much as we love the ankle boots, we are saving those for the pants. If you don’t want to freeze in your yellow dress, you should put on over the knee boots. And thighs under super thick socks. Well, you can skip the socks if you wear suede OTK boots. You know, the suede makes it feel just right even below zero.

#3 DON’T FORGET THE WINTER WARMERS

Gloves, mittens, hat, scarf … well, you can skip scarf if you wear a bow tie dress. But you certainly shouldn’t skip the hat and gloves. Ps. Go for a headband instead of the beret this time.

And yes, there is a special reason why I keep saying you should choose the headband over beret all the time. And no, it’s not because I stacked my hat closet with headbands and I don’t want to be the only one wearing it now. Wait, lying, this is one of the reasons too. But seriously, there is more going on about this.

Whatsoever let’s leave the hat beret issue for another time. All you need to remember here is to put on a hat before you leave your home in your short yellow dress. Or you could get cold.

Ps. Shop my favourite winter warmers from the widget below.

SHOP AND WEAR YOUR YELLOW DRESS LIKE A FASHION BLOGGER

Finally, what you want to know the most. Where to get this gorgeous silky yellow dress. And all the other things I styled my yellow dress with.

Ps. Be sure to pin, save and print this fashion cheat sheet and keep it close to your yellow dress. You know to encourage you to wear more brights in winter too. Oh, and don’t forget to share it with that friend of yours who seems to change your squad and joined Beehive. You know what I mean. Anyway, just save her from making this shameful faux pax. Black and yellow is for the bees and not brunettes. Or anyone else.

WHERE I GOT THE IT DRESS OF 2018

Surely, you already know where my yellow dress is from. You have seen me wearing this dress on my Instagram quite often in the last few months. Yes, this beautiful silky yellow dress is from my favourite brand, Escada. You can get it on sale, for under $200, now. Shop it here. Or get another yellow Escada dress that I really like, and you could wear it in summer as well, from the widget above.

THE YELLOW DRESS GOES UNDER THIS COAT

You know my coat so well now, I don’t even need to write anymore where it’s from. Still, in case you just came up on my Wall Street, this coat is from Weekend Maxmara. You can shop a Max Mara wool coat here. Ps. That wrap pastel coat I added to the widget above, is a great choice to wear with the yellow dress too. Especially if you are not really into all this princess’s look. And looking for classic pieces.

MY BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING IN YELLOW DRESS

Again, the suede Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots (shop same OTK boots here – ps. these boots don’t really run small as Nordstrom says). I must admit, the nutmeg colour of my OTK boots wouldn’t be my first choice if I had a pair of OTK boots in white. White over the knee boots would be a better addition to this coat and a yellow dress under this princess coat. Still, as I don’t have those stunning boots from the widget above just yet, I made sure my brown over the knee boots go with this outfit anyway. Luckily I do have a bag in radiant pink.

Yes, that’s a tip. When you don’t know how to style something bold and bright, just keep adding more bold pieces. Just make sure you pick them in the right material. Read suede, wool, velvet or even leather. Anything soft basically.

MORE COLOUR AND SOMETHING SOFT

My bag comes from See by Chloe, and I have had it for years. You will find the closest match to this bag over here. Ps. Check the widget below for other bags that go with the yellow dress too. Some even better. Especially if you want to go a step further and wear your yellow dress monochrome.

Well, not all the way monochrome. I mean it’s winter after all. You want to look chic not like a chicken in the snow, right? There will be time to wear your yellow dress monochrome though. And I will show you how to do that. So make sure you subscribe to my newsletter to make sure you don’t forget to check how to pull off yellow monochrome outfits this year.

As it goes for that faux fur headband, I mentioned before. I got mine on Amazon. You can get it here.

MORE NEW FASHION TRENDS AND MORE SPRING OUTFITS

Wait, I’m going too fast. Spring outfits will have to wait for a little bit. First, come the mid-seasonal outfits. Or maybe not. What so ever, check more winter outfits here and all of my latest spring outfits here. And all that comes in between on my Instagram. Ps. What are your feelings about the yellow? Do you like wearing it? I must say I used to hate it. But this yellow dress made me change my mind. I guess this is another reason why a yellow dress is the IT dress of 2018.
