You have no idea how happy I am about 2017 finally saying goodbye. 2017 was a far most difficult year for my family and me. It was full of obstacles, health issues, life challenges, and yet we managed to go through everything with grace. And learn so much on the go. Yet, I decided to leave everything behind and take only my new friends and these 4 quotes that I learned in 2017 to the new year. Well, together with this chic outfit of course.
2017 was certainly a breaking year for my family and me. Full of difficult challenges and also those little moments that remind us how beautiful life actually is. A life in which you get very ill and feel the pain. A life in which you tremble for the life of your loved ones. I still remember the anxiety I felt when I had to wait for a call from my mother after her operation and later to open the envelope with her results to see if she has cancer or not (luckily the answer was no). And those days when my grandmother was in the hospital and the only thing we knew was that she is dying at that time (she survived and is a healthy 85-year old lady now). Moreover finding out I have Helicobacter pylori again and I was actually born with my blood disease that I just learned about two years ago. Furthermore, getting two of my wisdom teeth out. Well yes, this is the reason why I wasn’t posting so often in the last two months.
I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.
And yet in between all of this pain, going to the Haute Couture Week in Paris and two fashion weeks for the first time, enjoying the sunset at the beach, smelling the salt in the air and my hair. Moreover, wandering through the streets of Paris, eating macarons and ice cream, sipping champagne, enjoying the opera, finding my blogger besties, meeting so many people (including my long lost uncle) and making life-long friendships.
WHAT I LEARNED IN 2017
Anyway, 2017 hit us hard emotionally. But on the other hand, it felt like a real life more than ever before. You know what I mean. The authentic life in which you face the challenges, feel, love, enjoy the little moments, meet new people and mostly learn.
Not to swipe too far away from what I actually wanted to share with you in this post, let me head on the 4 quotes that I learned in 2017.
Well before that, another thing I also learned. About fashion and style of course. You know I can’t skip fashion in my posts. I am a fashion blogger after all.
I already wrote about the 20 fashion lessons I learned in my first year of blogging over here. But now, after a year and two months, I must highlight this one fashion lesson again.
THE FASHION LESSON OF 2017
Well, this fashion lesson it’s quite obvious, isn’t it? I 2017 I learned how stylish the oversized silhouette can be. Even though this silhouette is more or less saying goodbye with Autumn Winter 2017 (by the way my entire list of all Spring Summer 2018 Fashion Trends is over here), we still have some weeks to wear it.
Before I finally share the 4 quotes I learned in 2017 and will live by in 2018 for sure, few words about this outfit that I’m wearing here.
SHOP AND WEAR MY STYLE
I’m wearing oversized white cable knit turtleneck sweater from my mother’s closet. Remember I stole this sweater from her a while ago? Anyway, read that anecdote and check how I styled it with the plaid tweed mini skirt over here. You can get a similar sweater from Burberry over here and another one, cheaper though, over here.
Don’t worry I didn’t steal everything from my mother this time and left her with an empty closet. Fortunately for her, we don’t have the same shoe size. Otherwise, I would take all of her Chanel shoes for sure. Instead, I’m wearing my 2017 staple ankle boots from Elena Iachi. Shop here.
As it goes to the bag. Again, I’m wearing my old See by Chloe bag that I bought in Paris once when I felt so happy for no reason. I guess this is the reason why I like to wear it so often. Unfortunately, you can’t get the same bag anymore. But I found this bag, that I believe you will love as much as I love this top handle pink bag.
THE QUOTES TO LIVE BY IN 2018
Finally, about the 4 quotes, I learned I 2017, and I’m living by in 2018.
#1 ALWAYS SHOOT FOR THE MOON. EVEN IF YOU FAIL, YOU WILL END UP AMONG THE STARS
I learned this from Lisa, a beautiful person and a blogger I met at the birthday party during my first fashion week back in March in Paris.
Thanks, Lisa, for showing me anything is possible.
#2 JUST SMILE AND EVERYONE WILL WANT TO BE AROUND YOU
Thanks, Stacy for teaching me this. This is not a cheezy quote we like to repin on the Pinterest, but it’s worth to write it down, pin it and learn it. My friends Stay taught you don’t need any funny lines to break the silence and make someone to talk to you. Just put on a smile, and everyone will come to you and want to speak to you.
#3 MONEY IS MATERIALIZED LOVE
I learned this at the blogger conference. And omg, this is so true. If you work something will a passion, with love, it won’t be long before you succeed. Just think, no billionaire got their wealth sitting at the desk in some boring job he didn’t like.
#4 NO ONE QUEUES FOR A FLAT ROLLERCOASTER
I got this quote from Chiara just another day. And I think there is no other quote that would better describe my life. Or anyone else’s life as a matter of fact. Yes, life can be hard sometimes. But on the other hand, any obstacle, any challenge makes life way more exciting. Remember no one queues for a flat rollercoaster.
SWEATER: oversized cable knit sweater (shop here)

MORE QUOTES, MORE BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS, MORE FASHION
Again, Happy New Year! Make 2018 the best year ever. And always remember that at the end of the day, at the sunset if not before, you will always find out how beautiful life is. Head up, and look at the sky. There’s nothing more fascinating than all the colours in the sky and clouds moving around.
So these are 4 quotes to live by in 2018. By the way, what quote will you pin first?
