With so many fashion trends trending this summer seems like you would need at least 10 different summer dresses to claim to be a legit fashionista. Well, guess what. You actually don’t. All you need are 2 dress that has it all: the ruffles, stripes, florals, gingham or even better the plaid, a belt, cold shoulders, statement sleeves, pleats, embroidery and tulle. And the right length of course. Even better when it’s asymmetric. Oh, and that comes either in red or pink.
Honestly, I wasn’t really into shopping this season. I know, sounds like a crime for a fashion blogger. Well, slightly lying. But not when it comes to the dresses. As a matter of fact, I only got myself two dresses. But these two dresses have it all. All the fashion trends in two summer dresses. Dreams come true, right?
#2 SUMMER DRESSES YOU MUST HAVE THIS SUMMER
As said you only need 2 summer dresses this season, but these two must be fashionable all the way until the last stitch. And no, this, once for a change, doesn’t make them look kitschy and moreover ugly. Surely, you could even get only one dress that has it all, but all the fashionable prints (I sincerely don’t get people who wear Desigual clothes). Still, let’s us be honest, not to say practical. We all know one dress is not enough in the hot summer. Unless you are a super woman, who doesn’t sweat, of course.
Nevertheless, to put it short, you need two dresses. One for the day and other for the night. Because summer nights are long.
#1 THE DAY SUMMER DRESS
My staple dress this summer is a mix of stripes, some ruffles on the bottom of the dress and on the sleeves (two in one, I get the statement sleeves, too), cold shoulders, stripes, a belt. Moreover, it’s long enough to count as a maxi dress, has a slit and is asymmetric.
This striped, ruffled, cold shoulder shirt dress really has everything a day dress should have this summer. And what’s even better it works in every casual situation. Either on vacation or in the city. Remember, I wore it before in the city with my rose gold sandals and pink bag (in case you skipped that blog post be sure to check it here). Or the other day while shooting the beauty story over here.
THE PERFECT DAY DRESSES TO WEAR THIS SUMMER
Don’t like the stripes? I told you stripes are not the only option for a day this summer. There are so many beautiful summer dresses that have it all like the dress that I’m wearing here. And the best thing, you can wear them with any type of summer shoes. Either beautiful strappy sandals when meeting your friends for an ice cream and drink in the city, wedges on your holidays or flat sandals and mules when taking a bike to the local market early in the morning.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR SUMMER DRESS WORK FOR ANY SITUATION
As said, you can make your fashionable summer dress work for any situation by wearing different shoes. And accessories of course. Luckily, you don’t need to change all the accessories every time. With the raffia bags being so fashionable this season, you can have one back and carry it everywhere. I bet you know what bag I have in mind. No, not exactly the one I’m wearing here, but the cult bag of this summer. Which you can find in the gallery below. Mine is still on its way, whatsoever.
*# COCKTAIL HOUR
If you can only get one dress and spend most of the day in your swimsuit in bed or in pants, then get the shorter dress you will wear in between. The dress that still has most of everything but mixed.
2# OH, THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS, AND SUMMER DRESSES
I told you, you need two summer dresses. Not saying you can’t dress all night long in a dress like the one I’m wearing here. Especially on the beach. But still, you know you need a fancy dress you could wear to the romantic dinner at the hotel Costes’ restaurant or some posh place in Nice, too. Not mentioning, the classic concert under the stars or movie festival, as there are almost in every city this summer.
THE PERFECT EVENING DRESSES TO WEAR THIS SUMMER
So what’s the perfect evening dress this summer? In short, a dress that covers all the fashion trends we didn’t wear on our day dress. In my case, a dress that comes with embroidery, lace and tulle. Too romantic for you? Then go for pleats and bold colours instead.
You can find my favourite night dresses to wear this summer in the gallery above and below. Wondering what dress am I dancing in this summer nights? Then check this blog post over here (Ps. make sure you don’t wear heels in case you end up on the beach after party like I did over here). And have fun shopping my favourite summer dresses.
By the way, what’s your staple summer dress this season? Does it have it all?
