It seems like I’m becoming one of those girls who wear their over the knee boots all year long. I mean, who can resist these super stylish and powerful boots. Certainly not me. At least not this spring. As OTK boots are like oversized sunglasses, little black dress, and a medium tote. Easy to style and always fashionable. In on word chic.
Undoubtedly, over the knee boots are same as the oversized sunglasses and a cape with a hood, one of those things we love to wear on our bad hair day. You know what I mean. On a blue day, when only wearing a good statement can cheer you up and make you feel and look like a diva.
OVER THE KNEE BOOTS ALL YEAR LONG
The thing with the over the knee boots is that they are boots. Meaning, a footwear people usually wear in winter. And winter only. Well, ordinary people do. Because all the fashionistas, fashion bloggers, and celebrity stars know that OTK boots are actually the most important shoes a girl can have. The shoes you can wear all year long, without bothering too much with your outfit.
Wait, don’t get excited too soon. Unless you learn few styling tricks, you will need to store your OTK boots into the bottom of your closet and wait until the next winter before you could wear them again.
3 IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER
- NEUTRAL SHADES
As usual, it’s all about the colour. Make sure the over the knee boots you wear during the warm season are the same colour as your skin. Or at least in a shade that matches the bottom clothes that you are wearing. For example, I got my OTK boots in the same shade as my favourite suede skirt that I also love to wear all year long.
Surely, this one is the top secret, no one, but me, wants you to know. To put it short, your spring and summer over the knee boots should have high heels. To make it clear, you can wear your flat OTK boots only in winter and cold season. It’s not that you will slip on the ice in the summer, anyway.
- MATCH MAKES IT PERFECT
Your spring and summer over the knee boots must match the bottom you are wearing. And make it look like one piece. Surely, you can pull off the spring and summer over the knee boots style with a bottom that doesn’t match, as I did with a mini suede skirt, but as warmer it gets outside, the harder it is to make this outfit to work.
HOW TO WEAR YOUR OTK BOOTS THIS SPRING
I like to wear my over the knee boots in three different ways this spring.
Starting with the essential style. While being truly chic, this is the most discreet way to wear your OTK boots out of season. Hardly anybody will notice you are wearing the over the knee boots. Sure they will see it, but they won’t think there is anything unusual going on with your outfit. Especially when your boots match your skin tone as well. The only thing people around you will notice is your confidence. Becuase that is what these boots do. Boost your self-confidence. Well, know you know why this are the number one shoes of any American celebrity star.
I love to match my OTK boots with the suede skirt. I actually brought this look directly from the winter and merely removed few extra layers for a beautiful long thin trench coat. Be sure to check more on this style over here The Robe, Pardon Long Thin Coat.
No other footwear would go with chic boho outfit better than over the knee boots. You can borrow my look for a day to go in the city or with few changes for a Coachella. Well, more than few. You know what I mean. Anyway, browse through the gallery to find out how to wear your OTK boots to any festival this season.
On a cold spring day instead of thin wool tights. We all love to wear mini skirts and dresses in spring. Don’t let the cold weather withhold you from that. Just put on your OTK boots and go. Surely, your outfit will look best when your over the knee boots match your skin tone. Still, don’t worry if they don’t. Mine don’t either. And I can still pull off this look. The key to this look is in matching the bottom and outwear or top. See how I matched my coat and tweed mini skirt on an icy spring day here Check how here First Spring Weekend in Blue, Brown, Pink and Tweed; and on a slightly warmer day over here on my Instagram.
