While makeup trends for spring/summer 2017 are in short one big rainbow, a palette of bright colours, shooting my first makeup story of the season, in the rain seemed just on point. So here it is, my makeup story, singing in the rain, featuring the bright, forest green eye makeup.

Sincerely I wasn’t really singing. Rather than singing in the rain I was picking up some wild flowers, and trying to look as cool as possible while soaking wet. Yes, I was all wet. From head to toe. Or better say from my hair to the pink Converse sneakers. Even though you can see rain drops on my forehead, my eye makeup survived the storm. And after the skies have cleared and the sun came out from the clouds, my forest green makeup started to shine up bright and perfectly matched with the forest and the wildflowers.

SPRING/SUMMER 2017 MAKEUP TRENDS

Makeup trends of the season are in one word bright. And vivid. Somewhere between the neon lights and the rainbow. Although, luckily, not exactly like back in the 80s. Meaning, makeup is still quite wearable despite their strong attitude this season.

Still, don’t get me wrong, the spring/summer 2017 makeup is not always appropriate for work. Especially not, if you have no idea how to apply the bright colours on your face like a legit makeup artist. Since the line of fashionable, trendy on the one side, and horrendous on the other side is really thin. As a matter of fact it has never been thinner before. And there two good reasons why makeup is so challenging this spring/summer.

Yes, the makeup situation of spring/summer 2017 turned up like this because of the stripes and the colour clashings. Remember, I wrote about this season being all about wearing two colors that naturally clash with each other in one outfit, over here?

STRIPED MAKEUP

In brief, the makeup of spring/summer 2017 is colorful. It might be even romantic in a way, due to all those colours. But also super powerful, bold and striped. Don’t look so surprised. Stripes are everywhere this year. So seeing them on our eyelids is no surprise, at all.

However, stripes on our eyelids are slightly different than the ones we wear in our clothes, shoes, and bags. And everywhere else. Rather looking like we hold a ruler in our hand while doing our makeup, the stripes on our lids are imperfect and smudged. Surely they can be bold and clear, too. But honestly, pulling off this, bold line makeup style can be too much for a daily makeup in the spring.

So instead of drawing a bold line on my eyelids, I decided to go for an imperfect colour blending stripes and create a makeup look that you can wear everywhere. Surely, it won’t blend in with the papers at the office as good as, with the forest and the grass in my makeup story. But this is the best way to wear stripes and colours on your eyelids and look beautiful, at the same time.

POP OF COLOUR

As said, spring/summer makeup 2017 is colourful. And the colours yellow, green, blue, purple, red, peach and pink, of course, are definitely bright. In short, the colour palette is broad. And picking up the right colour so difficult.

MY SPRING EYE MAKEUP

Spring is a transition time for me. So rather than trying on the bold makeup and walking around with stripes drawn all over my eyelids, straight away, I decided to go easy on this eye makeup trend. And go for an imperfect, smudgy stripes in forest green and gold color in this makeup story. Besides, I wanted to show you how you can wear at least one of the current makeup trends in the real life, too. If not for the ordinary day at the office, at least for a brunch date with your friends. Or even better, for the spring picnic. Simply recreate my makeup, put on some cool jeans, as I did for my last picnic over here, and you are ready to enjoy your spring picnic.

Ps. I’m saving the bold clashing look for the summer. Can’t wait to wear the sunny yellow colour on my eyelids.

SHOP AND WEAR MY MAKEUP

EYE MAKEUP

In this makeup story, I’m wearing Dior and Estee Lauder eye makeup. To make my eyelids match the scenery, and look like the clearing full of violet wildflowers in the middle of the forest, I used three colours. To create the smudged, imperfect lines, I slightly mixed the green (480 NATURE) and gold (616 PULSE) eyeshadows. You can find both Diorshow Mono Eyeshadows in the gallery above. I also used Night Violet eyeliner from Estee Lauder, for the flower effect, and blend it together with the forest green shadows. I didn’t want you to know it’s even there.

EYEBROWS AND LASHES

Although I don’t really need to draw my brows, I can’t live without the brow pencil. This time I used the Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-fine Precision Brow Pencil. By the way, be sure to check this blog post over here, to find my tips on, how to do the brows to make them look natural and real.

As it goes for the mascara. I used Burberry Beauty ‘Cat Lashes’ Mascara – No. 01 Jet Black.

COMPLEXION

I used all Dior makeup for my complexion. Honestly, I wish I went for a transparent, glossy look already. But I’m saving this trend for the next time. For singing in the rain on the streets of Paris. Ups, saying too much too soon. Anyway, back to the makeup I’m wearing in this makeup story.

I’m wearing DIORSNOW White Reveal Fresh Transparency Liquid Foundation (012 Porcelain), Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation (100 Ivory), but only on the bottom part of my nostrils. I finished my makeup with Diorskin Nude Rose Powder and Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Loose Powder. And finally, Diorskin Rosy Glow Booster Blush. Even though blush is meant to be seen this season, I’m saving this look for some other time.

LIPS

I’m wearing Burberry Full Kisses – Peony Rose No. 513. I applied it with my finger and a brush to make this “barely-there” look.
