Put on your fancy outfit, steal a slice of chocolate cake from the kitchen table, grab a soft pink picnic blanket, and run out. Stop by the neighbours garden and pick out some tulips. Run before they see you and don’t stop till you get to the meadow. Lay the blanket on the grass, sit down, listen to the birds and smile. It’s springtime, and this is your first spring picnic.
MY FIRST SPRING PICNIC
Finally, my first spring picnic is here! You wouldn’t believe how excited I was for this spring picnic. You know it’s been a while since my last picnic, picnic in the snow. The entire Fashion month, if I’m exact. I guess thinking I could make a picnic during my first Fashion Week in Paris was too optimistic. Anyway, fashion week is over, the sun is out, the grass is still slightly brown, but at the end, we can say spring is here. And it’s time for me to call it a picnic season.
As said, the sun is out, the grass is still slightly brown, but who cares as it fits my boots and the cake I’m eating just perfectly. The wind is blowing my hair, so I have to tie them together. I’m slowly eating my cake and simply enjoying in this spring picnic. And as annoying the sound of the camera is, I don’t even care there is my mum taking photos of me and not letting me eat my cake in calm. Not mentioning some people are watching the two of us with the monoculars from a distance and talking about how silly we seem.
NEW SEASON, NEW PICNIC STYLE
After the third picnic, the one in the snow, I decided it’s time for me to upgrade my picnic style. So here I am, having my upgraded spring picnic. As you can see, I made two changes. First, I swapped the basket with a beautiful white bag. I mean, that Rattan basket was just not me. Besides, a fancy bag is always a better idea. And this small white bag is so fashionable right now (remember the fashion trends over here?).
Sure, a nice tote, big enough to put in the plate and a blanket would be a better choice. But I simply didn’t have time to grab one and rather keep this small white bag I was carrying around all day. In case you missed, I went to Ljubljana in the morning. Only to buy that cake.
Yes, the cake is the second change. I finally brought some food to my picnic. The one that I can actually eat. Sure, my picnics are more of a fashion kind. Well, you know what I mean, no food included. At least not the one I could eat. Still, having food around is much more fun. Anyway, more about this cake is waiting for you to read in the next blog post, Fashion Story of Blue and Brown Picnic.
WHAT TO WEAR TO THE FIRST SPRING PICNIC
To put it short, don’t let the sun fool you. You still might be cold at your first spring picnic. Especially if you make it on a windy day like this. Therefore you better put on a coat over your beautiful spring outfit.
So what to wear to the first spring picnic then? The answer is quite simple. Something beautiful and warm, but not too warm so you won’t get hot in the sun. Soft for sure, so you can sit comfortably. Especially if your blanket is thin. You know, the grass is neither green neither soft yet.
BLUE AND BROWN
Anyway, I decided to wear this lovely blue and brown outfit, that matches the cake and the grass. It is the first spring picnic after all. And the grass is still brown, while all the blossoms are still closed. Including my tulips. They do look kind of green instead of yellow, don’t you think?
Back to what I’m wearing this time. My outfit is quite romantic and full of different patterns and colours. Just like spring itself. Anyway, be sure to find out more about this outfit over here in First Spring Weekend in Blue, Brown, Pink and Tweed. Also, don’t forget to browse through the gallery over there.
5 THINGS YOU NEED TO TAKE TO YOUR PICNIC
Picnics are nothing but fun. And now, when the picnic season is officially on there should be nothing there stopping you from grabbing a blanket, your fashionable bag, stealing a slice of cake and some flowers on your way, and going to your favourite spot. Well, perhaps your neighbour. Stealing flowers from her garden isn’t nice. Not to say anything else. But, hey, it’s for a good purpose.
Finally, lay the blanket in the grass. Don’t think about how dirty and rough it may be. Just lay it down and sit. Place the stollen cake and flowers by yourself. Let the wind mess up with your hair. Eat the cake, drink the tea. Take your phone out of your fancy small white bag. Make a snap. Take the Instagram story and let your friends envy you. Just don’t share your location. Well, unless you want your small spring picnic to turn into the wild spring party. Finally, you need friends at your picnic, too. To take photos. And moments worth capturing, obviously.
Ps. I’m thinking of changing my picnic spot. Do you guys have any idea where should I have my next picnic?
