It has been a week since the end of my first Paris Haute Coutre Week, so I guess it’s about time to finally share with you all about the fashion shows I visited. Starting with the Fall-Winter 2017/2018 Haute Couture Collection by Dany Atrache.
A JOURNEY BACK to THE 70s
The fashion show of a French-Lebanese fashion designer Dany Atrache took us on a journey back through the time when women had to go through the obstacles the male society put on their way and learn how to take their freedom while remaining sensual and feminine. Through the journey, Dany Atrache’s woman becomes this unconventional person, who knows how to oppose to the dictates of fashion, is free and even libertine. She can be who she wants to be. From a goddess dressed in gold, to a chic hippie.
In a dim, golden light we followed models, looking like a goddess with their beautiful golden skin and dark smokey eyes, dressed in divine dresses that combined women’s power, determination, and sensuality.
Dresses made of a combination of lace and crepe guipure, silk chiffon and velvet, metal and tulle, reflected the momentum of freedom that arose back in the seventies. The colour palette followed the journey of women’s march to the freedom, from nude, pink, mauve, variants of green, to the strong black and finally white.
I hate deciding for my favourites as the collection itself works as a cohesive story and dresses complement each other. There are twists and turns, just like in the life. Yet my favourites are the ones that show the power, and sensuality at the same time. The strength and revolution barely with their presence. And also, the beautiful mauve dresses, that are like me. Sensual and chic.
My absolutely favourite dress was the last dress, the wedding dress. This magnificent dress slightly reminds me of Dior, back then in the time of John Galliano. The resemblance is not random, as the designer used to work by Dior, before turning his fashion dream into reality and become an independent designer. However, it’s not the Dior Couture shape that convinced and charmed me. It’s the embroidered flowers that mingled with the material as if magic.
Finally, I must stop by the makeup and hair. As the beautiful golden tan was the first thing, I spotted the moment models entered the room. Artists from Menard Institute truly did a great makeup and hair.
As it goes for the shoes. Although beautiful, the white lacy booties didn’t really convince me. Perhaps because I saw them on one of the visitors before the show. The way she styled them with the jeans was cool. But somehow to casual to see the same booties on the models wearing Haute Couture gowns on the same evening.
GOSSIP FROM THE RUNWAY
Lastly, what you have been dying to read for, the gossip from the Dany Atrache Haute Couture show. The fashion show was scheduled to 8 pm but started with a more than half of hour delay as we were waiting for more visitors to come. Some French fashion bloggers, sitting by me, seemed convinced the room will stay half empty. Not a nice thought, given those girls, claimed to be designer’s friends. Anyway, while we were posing on the runway in our thoughtfully selected outfits, more people were coming and by the beginning of the show, the room was almost full. But not even as far as crowded as the another fashion show I went to earlier that day.
THE REAL FASHION SHOW GOSSIP
Oh, about what other visitors were wearing? Luckily you can’t see the yellow horror. As the girl wearing that hideous yellow outfit was sitting on the same side as I did. Well, I should better say, on the same side I was standing as I had to stand up and go to the back to take these videos for you. I hope you enjoyed the live stream from Dany Atrache Haute Couture Show on my Instagram. If not, well you have it here now. But you know it’s not the same. Yet, I hope you could feel a glimpse of the tension, the beauty, the magic, the power and the freedom I felt while watching this fashion show.
